Big Christmas campaign – Dortmunder for Dortmunder
(editors) Christmas is ahead and not for everyone it is a nice celebration among his beloved ones. For derelicts and people in trouble Christmas sometimes means the toughest time of the year. Many people are suffering from freezing temperatures and missing human warmth. So the editors of schwatzgelb.de/schwatzgelb.com very early had the idea to start a campaign together with the BVB players to help the Dortmund friendly society BODO e.V.

Everyone that has been in Dortmund downtown knows them: bodo – the street magazine of BODO e.V., which was established in 1995 with the aim to help especially those that are in trouble.
How does BODO try to help those people? They don’t want to receive pittance but try to help the people to get to work in self-organized groups. Instead of begging they do something for the money. Through reasonable work they strenghen their self-respect and raise their level of social competence. The aim: to reintegrate into society.

But they have the same problems like so many other facilities, they lack funds. Tanja Walter of BODO told us that a big wish is an own transporter (or 7,5 tons truck) which would enable them to organize transports and relocations.

So the editorial staff of schwatzgelb.de/schwatzgelb.com came to the conclusion that the campaign should be named “Dortmunder für Dortmunder”. We set up a fundraising-campaign with a sports jacket, which shows the colours of the city of Dortmund (red and white) and the city emblem, and sell them in our online-shop. 2 Euro of every jacket go directly to BODO e.V.. Already several years ago some BVB players plead for BODO. E.g. Michael Zorc let telephone cards design which were sold in favour of the friendly society. Now we had the idea to offer official BVB jersey with players’ autographs on it at eBay. We informed Christoph Metzelder of our idea and he welcomed it and informed the players. The reaction of the BVB players were very positive: Every single one we contacted immediatelly agreed.
Following players provided us with their signed jerseys: Christian Wörns, Stefan Reuter, Sebastian Kehl, Torsten Frings, Jan Koller, Tomas Rosicky, Lars Ricken, Otto Addo, Christoph Metzelder, Ewerthon

The auction started yesterday afternoon at 8pm CET and is online till 21th of December, 8pm CET. The handing over of the money will be immediatelly afterwards.

BODO e.V.’s profile: BODO e.V. is an independent friendly society that works following the motto “work instead of begging” since 8 years and thus helps people that are in trouble in different aspects of live. At all the society provides work for 80 people at the moment. Projects are the street magazine, book bazaars, rummage bazaars, furniture bazaars and dissolving of households. For further informations go to BODO’s homepage (German only).
