He's left footed if I'm not mistaken. I recommended him on this board a couple years ago.

    re: chelsea

    the 18 signings:
    • Marc Cucurella - Brighton, £60m, 6 year contract
    • Raheem Sterling - Man City, £47.5m, 5 year contract
    • Kalidou Koulibaly - Napoli, £33m, 4 year contract
    • Carney Chukwuemeka - Aston Villa, £20m, 6 year contract
    • Wesley Fofana - Leicester, £75m, 7 year contract
    • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Barcelona, £10.3m, 2 year contract
    • Denis Zakaria - Juventus, loan
    • Benoît Badiashile - Monaco, £35m, 7.5 year contract
    • David Datro Fofana - Molde, undisclosed, 6 year contract
    • Andrey Santos - Vasco da Gama, undisclosed, 5 year contract
    • João Félix - Atletico Madrid, £9.7m loan
    • Mykhailo Mudryk - Shakhtar Donetsk, £88.5m, 8.5 year contract
    • Noni Madueke - PSV, £29m, 7.5 year contract
    • Malo Gusto - Lyon, £26.3m, 7.5 year contract
    • Enzo Fernández - Benfica, £106.8m, 8.5 year contract

    the entire squad:

Goalkeepers: Édouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Gabriel Slonina, Marcus Bettinelli

Defenders: Reece James, César Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, Benoît Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah, Kalidou Koulibaly, Bashir Humphreys, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Lewis Hall

Midfielders: Enzo Fernández, N'Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovačić, Denis Zakaria, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Carney Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos

Forwards: Mykhailo Mudryk, Kai Havertz, João Félix, Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulišić, Noni Madueke, Armando Broja, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, David Datro Fofana, Omari Hutchinson

    OK so after £600m+
    1. it's not obvious why Thiago Silva won't still start
    2. it's not obvious why someone like Kovačić or Mount won't still start
    3. it's highly debatable whether they even have a single definitively elite player in the entire squad
what they've done is almost like overwriting save data with the same save data. impressive...

    Koulibaly? Hahaha

There is a gulf in strategy between the coaching team and front office.

gotta question if Potter has any say in this transfer "strategy"

I think he has almost zero say, clearly. He's got to be as concerned with the next 6 months as 3 years from now. And he still doesn't have a striker or a genuine 6 (aside from the often injured Kante). In fact, they just shifted his next closest 6 in Jorgihno.

He basically has no say methinks.

Independent: Why Chelsea’s obscene January spending is just the start by Miguel Delaney
    https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...r-enzo-fernandez-premier-league-b2273249.html

I don't think Chelsea is alone in this thinking. The failings of Ed Woodward's logic re Phil Jones aside for a moment, I think the EPL will only dominate the transfer market even more in the coming windows. We could see players selling for 200 million on the regular and the figures could be even higher. Very hard to say if other top clubs in Europe can compete with that without going the way of Barcelona or Juventus. There's only so much funny accounting you can get away with.

And we all know what the means... the $10-$20 a month we pay to watch will double. The merch, tickets, all double. Hopefully the economy grows so that we earn double, but I'm not that optimistic.

Wasn’t the new owner obliged to invest heavily in the team as part of the deal? Or is that some bollocks I read somewhere?

In addition to Badiashile (CB €38m), new guys Andrey Santos (CM €18m), DD Fofana (CF €12m) & Noni Madueke (RW €35m) also fail to make the cut.

A lot of player investments on the sidelines.

Auba an odd choice given DD Fofana too raw & Broja out for season. Get the character issues, but still …

Auba clearly not in Potters plans - would have been sold, but apparently cannot play for 3 teams in one season owing to FIFA rules and cannot be reregistered by Barca owing to La Liga rules :)

So looks like Felix / Havertz as #9s is where Potters head is at. Not been working out all that well though in the EPL ….

False 9 in a 343 is an odd choice anyway

Look at the length of the new Chelsea players contracts and you’ll see exactly how Chelsea are getting away with this. Spreading out the spending. But they’re blowing their wad early. If all these signings come good, it’ll look great in the end. If any of these guys flop, good luck every moving them. They could be stuck with guys that are on 7 and 8 year contracts but don’t play. That’ll be hard to swallow.

Calvert Lewin needs to spend less time wearing dresses and more time scoring goals. Great chance missed at the end of the half that would’ve given them a lead over Arsenal.
