According to the schedule published in the MLS Preseason Media Guide, there was one significant change in the schedule that was released earlier. The July 26 match at Metros has now been rescheduled for April 29th. This means that the Rapids have 3 games straight at home to start the season, and play against the Metros in 3 of their first 6 overall. Two of those Mutts games are on ESPN2. Also FWIW six of the first seven games are against Eastern teams.
MLSnet still has the game listed for July 26. Perhaps the game was originally scheduled for April instead of July, and this was a last-minute change that didn't make it into the media guide.
That may not be as bad as you think upon initial glance. As long as it doesn't conflict with an Avs playoff game (last May 22 vs NE, Avs v Detroit, I'd be suprised if 1000 of the 8002 announced showed), there may not be a big drop in attendance/actual vs. a Saturday afternoon match, when there are 563577 other things some people are doing. I could be a little off base, maybe not, but other than midweek games being a bit of a nuisance, I don't think it will be a complete dropoff either.
Just saw this tc. I don't recall a Wednesday evening game ever being scheduled for April, but MLS scheds change so much I might have missed it.
Most of the info in the PMG seems fairly updated; even the preview paragraphs on the Rapids mention that Schmidt has been a terror in the preseason. It's really just a big Word document so I'd be surprised if the information is out of date. There's no "last updated on" notifier on the Rapids website for the schedule page, so hard to tell when that was last updated. I did hear from the Rapids FO a few weeks back that there have been a ton of time changes to the schedule -- which are also reflected in the PMG. The PMG also lists the May 3rd match at Metros as being on ESPN2 (website has no TV specified for that game yet).
Even more strange... the 29th is a Tuesday. And they play three days prior at home on the 26th (against DC, I think?).
D'oh! I knew I'd f up what day of the week the 29th was. Weekdays/weeknights are all the same anyway.
