Would the club give us license to use the crest? Can we work up a design.

I know, I seem bored but some of these entries for S8 are pretty well done.

I'd like to see one with 4 stars and three stripes length wise with the years of our championships and on the flip side something different.

I know Bison (aka MArcel, where is he these days?) Rob and Dana were looking into making some REALLY cool BARRA BRAVA scarves for next year.

The mock ups they had were a black scarf with the white skull "Muerte" logo and another that is red and black striped (kind of like the new Barra banner Srdan made)

--anyone with some updates on those feel free to post details or PM me here :D

You beat me by 10 minutes on this thread. I'd really like to copy this idea from Chicago. It would be great to have a DC scarf to go with my US one. And the design will have 4 stars on it.

I really like the "Heroes" Chicago design (maybe 'cause Nowak's on it). I would like to see a DC heroes shirt. Or even a big Jaime-MVP style banner with our past heroes hanging at RFK.

DC could really be making some cash if they had some decent gear for sale, right now. I guess they weren't really expecting this type of season, though.

Stephen Zack was here recently encouraging questions -- this sounds like a good one to ask (re: licensing team symbols). I agree, the scarves look very nice.

DC has always been completely incapable of producing good merch especially on the website. its almost mind boggling. they should let the people on this messageboard design it all

I've been working on a banner/scarf design with "FOUR STARS" that has images of Jaime/Esky/Nicky/(Yet to be determined) located one each within the stars. The images would be the same style I used in the Jaime pumpkin I did for Halloween.

I am having a hard time getting just the right image of each of the guys. I didn't realize how lucky I was that that the image of Jaime worked out so well.

If I can get it to a point where I'm comfortable with the artwork I'll post an image for feedback.

    I liked 95% of them.

Hey Srdan my office just bought a $15,000 - $18,000 color plotter from HP. It prints up to 48" wide x whatever length on almost any media. The literature from HP listed 'Banner' and I dont thing they meant on bond. When it arrives I will check it out. I'm sure we can use it for some seriously detailed things as long as we buy our own ink and paper (vinyl).

I am still kind of partial to the hand made artistry that you are able to create.:)

It's good to see there are other night owls out there! Do you ever sleep?

Not to be a butt-in-ski, but having done quite a bit of hand knitting and making my own designs for sweater and scarves and things... remember that the width and height of a knitted stich are different (for example, 20 stitches across, and 24 rows, per 4 inches square). Don't want you to go to all that trouble on truly square paper before realizing the finished product is way off. You can use a machine-made scarf to get your knitted gauge of a "standard" machine knit, then make your chart.

(there are several knitter's graph paper programs online, Google it, then just enter your gauge and they'll print it off in PDF for you)

    Good Luck!

I know...I'm so jealous. My designs look like sh!te compared to some of those. That'll be extra motivation to make badass scarves, though.

It looks like they're having a laugh with this one:

Yeah, the organization would have to sign a licensing agreement, and if DC United is smart it would be a very limited one-function and short-term one. They need to protect their intellectual property. The good news is that there's a decent chance that United wouldn't need much money for it, like a dollar a scarf or something.

Or even a penny per scarf, or a nod in their direction per scarf. Merchandise is not only a valuable commodity for the people who buy it, but advertising for the organization upon it. And licensing is often a requirement not so that the licensor can make money, but simply so that the licensor can maintain some level of control on how their trademarks are being used (so they're not used in a way that makes the licensor look bad).

They had them both on display at the entrance to the equipment sale. The scarf kind of looks like a freebee in person. I think the stripes look a bit sharper and more slick on the drawing. However the cap/beenie looks exactly as shown (it looked shorter than I would have expected). I think it would look awesome on Charlie Brown.

    However the stuff is free-ish.:)
