All that the United States needs to secure and reclaim the title of Champions in this [kinda fake] tournament is a tie, but as always I believe that playing for a draw would be a mistake. Incidentally, I had kinda hoped that Japan wouldn't have such a rough go of it this time around, but oh well. IMPORTANT: Does anyone know whether this game is accessible via the ESPN website for people with ESPN2 subscriptions, kinda like how the FS2 Olympic qualifying matches were available with FS1-level access on their website? Otherwise I have to start scouting out a sports bar/restaurant at which to watch it, and I'm sure I won't be the only one.
Well unless Japan really steps up their game this could get real ugly for Japan. But the US cannot take Japan for granted because there is a lot of talent on Japan and it would only take a little luck or a few minor tweaks on just an inspiring pregame speech for it all to come together. I do not expect that to happen but you never know. At this level the difference between two teams can come down to something as simple as breakfast.
I "think" it is but I cannot test it as my Hulu TV subscription includes all the ESPN channels but I seem to remember that when I had a sub that included only ESPN and ESPN2, I think that was an early incarnation of Sling TV, I had access to ESPNnews and all the other ESPN minor channels that ESPN offered at the time. You can test by going to their web site and trying to stream something that is on the channel you want. If you can then try one or two other shows. Also be sure you try a live stream as some subs allow replay streaming bit do not allow live shows to be streamed.
Yeah I don't have ESPN News but supposedly they said that if you have the ESPN app, and you are subscribed to the other ESPN channels, you should be able to still view it. Still it's rather dumb that our last game can't be on just plain ESPN or ESPN2
Despite being a fan of Nadeshiko Japan, I expect them to badly lose this match. Had we kept the 0-0 result with Spain until the end, we could have approached this game with a little confidence, but after Spain's goal crushed our hopes this way, I guess we're going to be clubbered vs USA.
I would tell the USWNT to go easy on Japan but I am afraid my influence is quite limited with the US squad.
Which Julie? Ertz or Foudy? Actually it only matters if you want a response from the team's MVP or one of their strongest supporters. Either one would, probably, give that same response except I would be more afraid to ask Ertz face to face than Foudy. Ertz might hurt me badly.
They're going wall-to-wall College Conference Basketball Tournaments this week. Kinda surprised that ESPIN squeezed us in on News. Per my DISH guide - at least there isn't a live basketball game immediately preceding our Match on Wednesday......that could go into 7 overtimes.
You must mean England(vs Japan) instead of Spain? You never know if Vlatko will show some gamesmanship & match Germany when they started 11 new starters from their 1st Algarve Cup match. But then some might say that the 11 bench players that the US had during last year’s WC final was the 2nd best team in the world
They are easily confused. After all they have so much in common like......they are on the same planet. Also they fought a rather famous naval battle in, I think, 1588.
Looks like the answer's no. ESPN News programming is only accessible by ESPN News subscribers, even online. Damnable. I guess I'll have to check into Buffalo Wild Wings.
Or check to see if there's an American Outlaws bar near you: https://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/chapters
Damn, does anyone know if I turn off twitter and stop looking at this forum, when they repeat the match on one of the ESPN channels or how many hours it takes before it appears on the "rewatch" on the ESPN site?
I have seen it be a short as 2 hours and I have seen it take 24 or more. Although I believe the re-watch will be available to all ESPN subscribers I have noticed that there are many ESPN shows that are never opened up to viewing unless you had access to it live. It is very very hard to be sure about anything on ESPN as they never seem too spell out availability in any language spoken or ever spoken on this planet.
Apparently the country has canceled a lot of events today, I'm wondering if they'll still allow an audience attend this match.
If they didn't bar fans at the one in Harrison, NJ, I seriously doubt that they'd not do that in Frisco, TX, especially only a few hours before the match. The April matches, of course, are a different matter. EDIT: Just wanted to add that the gates are probably already open for the first game.
I wish they would not there are cases already in Texas and this is just one more place the virus could spread. The nation's and the world's health is more important than the inconvenience of a few fans. But they will not. The Texas political leadership is very slightly better that what we have in Washington and the chimp in charge is still in denial. This will have to turn into a major outbreak before most of our political leaders will take any action that might economically hurt their businesses. Dollars are more important to them than lives.
