Online petittions will not convince people of anything, other than a lot of email addresses are entered into a databse.

You want to convince people the WUSA is worth saving, then you have to do two things:

    1. Show them they will get a return on their investment.

    2. Show them their investment is being spent wisely.

Count on an oversight on this one, because the former WUSA failed very miserably on both counts.

Better do a spell check on the petition before forwarding to corporate America

I have officially become tired of these ripoffs of an overdone commercial for a credit card which I already have.

Petitions save TV shows for a few episodes.

Petitions do not save sports leagues. Instead of "signing" some online petition, you'd be better served writing a well-written note and mailing it to potential sponsors of a league. Indicating your willingness to base future purchasing decisions favoring companies the support said league.

Not only that, if you really want to appeal to a sponsor, at least get their logo right. Just like poor spelling detracts from a petition, screwing up the logo serves the same purpose with that image.

My interpretation is that the artist intended the backwards swoosh to be a deeply symbolic image representing Nike's backwards priorities.;)

Yeah..those deeply backward priorities of supporting companeis that make money. Look , I watched the WUSA's finances too. I'm not convinced pouring more money down the drain would have been in anyone's best interest.

Nike has supported and does support women's soccer. Just because they don't support pouring money down a drain does not make them mongoloid, mysoginist, sexist, or backwards.

    Petition will do nothing

Petition is an empty cause. If you can come up with about $30 million then you might have something.

The WUSA management blew it ( WUSA THE EPILOGUE: Lack of television insight is No. 1 reason league is on the shelf http://www.newsday.com/sports/socce...,1101688,print.story?coll=ny-soccer-headlines ). They had their opportunity and squandered it. Very unfortunate for the women that they would have a chance of becoming a professional athlete.
