I was just going to post this. Probably instigated by Revolution fans.

there are some valid points on there for deletion, however ... especially the conflict of interest one. and look at the number of requests.

what can be done to resolve this, seriously?

I don't post on wikipedia from ...errr.... this computer. Seeing as a La Barra Brava page exists separate from DC United, SoB should be granted the same status.

I guess it wasn't NER fans who want to delete it. It's europeans - a typical anti-MLS attitude.

Can you contact admins to put a lock on the article? I remember a bunch of articles going on lockdown after Stephen Colbert urged fans to have fun with the site a while back.

Seriously, this reiterates why I despise people in general. Seriously, what really do those "lovely" people have to bitch about. The page did not defy and of the guidelines. I think some folks have a grudge, poor pathetic creatures. But now that I'm done being mean. There has to be ways to combat this. I don't know if a huge onslaught of good comments would be enough. Perhaps it would since there is no ligament complains.

I find it ironic that this starts up right as we have become more relevant than ever.

Why would anyone want to delete the wikipedia page? The elders took it upon themselves to start something that may never have been done before in the history of sports and some a-hole wants to delete that page because it has no meaning in their pathetic small lives. All the crap that is on wikipedia and someone picks the SoB page to delete. It has to someone with a grudge or just a complete tool. Whatever the case, if wikipedia decides to delete the page I for one am going to boycott them and send a message to the editors voicing my opinion.

those in favor of deleting it (according to their wiki pages) are from Seattle (no surprise there) New England (no surprise there either) and Euro's (hate everything that has to do with American soccer). bunch of a$$holes.

If these a-holes are admitting that they are supporting the deletion of the page on their page isn't that a conflict of interest? How can wikipedia even consider this from peple who are obviously being vindictive and spiteful? If it was from that other SoB group and they were there first and had a legitmate complaint then I could understand (not agree with) their position. However, for it to come from a bunch of whining, pathetic NE fans is just wrong. Why is it every time I don't think I can hate everthing about NE sports even more than I already do, the fans just push it to another level. F#*king NE fans!!!

Oh and by the way, the Patriots cheated to win all their Superbowls. Look what happens when they can't cheat. Belichick is a pathetic person and he showed that on international TV. Why don't you cry about it, you lost be a man and respect your opponent. Rant over...

Before we start any misunderstandings, there are no New England supporters who want to delete the page. I humorously suggested that in post #2 of this thread. But I was wrong. There are NO overt Revs fans who have asked to delete. There will be enough reason to have rivalries with other MLS teams - but this is not one of them.

It is sad that the person who requested deletion is not a regular Wikipedia user - not even on the SOB literary page.

How can our page be up for deletion, while the page for A list of rooms of the Temple in "Legends of the Hidden Temple" can go untouched?

The Room of the Three Gargoyles: In this room, the player needed to push in the correct tongue of the three gargoyles to advance in the temple.[3]

The Room of the Royal Gongs:
In this room, the player needed to push in the correct base of the three gongs to advance in the temple. [3]

The Wall Climb (The Pit of Despair): Players have a choice of climbing the walls, or simply crawling through the pit, the hit an actuator. Several ropes were added in Layout 2 to assist contestants.[3]

    Amazing.

Do you know how many pages there are about video games? It is ridiculous that the SoB page is threatened but pages for video games apparently have more relevance than our page.

The problem is not with Wikipedia in general. Pages about video games are pretty cool. The problem is with soccer - actually, football - fans on Wikipedia. They have no idea about how to determine "notability". As an American, I have no problem considering defunct English teams from 100 years ago "non-notable". But you know the Europeans. Everything that ever happened in sacrosanct and anything new in the sport is "unimportant".

There's a big debate about whether kids selected in the MLS draft are considered "notable". Americans say yes. Europeans say no.

The sooner the US wins the World Cup, the better.

Plus I'm pissed about the f'n Liverpool fan who immediately lost interest once he found out my scarf was for a Philly MLS fan.

By the way, the page was saved.

EDIT - if it had been deleted, I was ready to take our case to Colbert.

Great work. Thanks to everyone that helped, and to the PW for getting the word out, as well.
