It's actually in the OKC suburb of Norman. Norman is where the University of Oklahoma is. The Saturn Cup will be played on the OU women's soccer field, which is incredible. The field is better kept than most golf courses, and the stadium/locker rooms/concession facilities were just finished and dedicated last year.

The above is the link to the main OU soccer page. On the right hand side is a video tour and information about the OU facility. Norman is about 20 minutes south of Oklahoma City. We have some good restaurants and good hotels here. In last years Saturn Cup, FC Dallas played Chicago. It was a great game and a ton of people showed up. Hopefully it's the same this year. The OU soccer girls sell T-shirts and other soccer stuff.

Ok, I've decided I want to go to this game. Who else wants to go?

You definitely should. Last year's version was my first MLS game. It was a blast. There are several hotels and restaurants right along I-35 in Norman, and the soccer stadium is about 5 miles to the east of the interstate right off Highway 9. The soccer field is directly next to Lloyd Noble Arena, which hosts OU basketball. There is a huge parking lot, which is perfect for tailgating. The soccer field is on the very southern edge of campus, it's a great area.

this actually sounds like a lot of fun, it's only a 5 hour drive (according to google maps) which isn't bad at all.

Having gone to the '06 game (with Jason and Kathie), I can attest to it being fun... but at game time that day, I'll be in Costa Rica...

I'm not really sure quite yet on that if it'd be better to stay Sat night and come back Sunday or come back right after the game. Either way I want to go.

ok from the last experience, it was a decent drive down, good weather/company had a great time down there even though it was just a few of us...the drive back was deadly, so tired after such a cold night andthe big factor was the 8 PM start time

with this being a 6 pm kick off and ending at 8 that would be perfect for a quick road trip getting back 1-2 which is doable with four drivers

And that's a good point. Personally I'm for either. I'll go with the majority.

it should also be pointed out, that saturday is the second round of the ncaa tournament (resisting the opportunity for a jab at the beakers fans here).

Is there a trophy. Is there a picture of the trophy? Are we defending it this year?

Ok, so it looks like there's some interest, from reading the thread, Tori, Amber, Sabotage, slashers, myself, and possibly s0ccerstud86.

As much as I would love to make this trip, I don't see being able to get away.

That being said, OG has the Cauldron banner if you want to take it. I also have my KC flag as well as a couple of drums....just let me know.
