Kicker projects Tony Sanneh into the starting line-up (at center back) for today's promotion clash. A win by Nuremberg and they are 9 points ahead of 4th (top 3 promote) with just 4 games to play.
A win for Nuremberg (basically) ensures promotion. (not techically, but they'd be in great , great shape, it would 'alltime' collapse proportion to screw it up).. A tie is pretty good too. Nuremberg probably only needs to nibble points rest of way, but hey, time for the Big Cat to mark his territory again- shoot Nuremberg ahead and be the hero..
Halftime, and its scoreless. The woodwork has come to Aachen's rescue at least once in the first half. No mention of Tony in the Bundesliga's ticker.
Great to see a healthy Sanneh work his way into the starting line-up after finally recovering. And for promotion-bound Nuremberg! He must be doing really well. Does anyone know his contract status? For some reason I've been thinking he'll be leaving Nuremberg after this season, but I have no idea where I got that.
He is out of contract this summer. Probably where you got the idea. I figure, since N'berg is on tight financial limits (see the thread in the Germany forum about getting their license w/caveats), it's all going to factor on how much Tony asks to re-up with the team. Too much, and they'll just go younger (and cheaper).
kicker rated Sanneh 2 and he entered the Team of the Day. Regarding his future: I think Coach Wolfgang Wolf likes him and relies on him. He would probably love to keep him, but the financial situation has changed and Sanneh will only stay in Nuremberg if he accepts a major salary cut. Yet I doubt that others clubs will offer more after the long injury.
Nuremberg can clinch promotion on Monday with a win away at Arminia Bielefeld. I'd imagine they would be satisfied with a point.
