Humm. Corner kick assignments can be a bit of a scrum. Is it possible that Chad was moving through the area, yelling at Sanneh to cover someone, and pushing him in that direction? Defense is all I've ever played in soccer, and I've done that before to teammates who were standing clueless while someone was unmarked. "Hey," little shove in the right direction, "Cover the guy on the left!" Then Sanneh turns to me, pissed off, cause he was planning to go cover that guy and he thinks I'm overstepping, "Who the hell are you to tell me where to go? I was scoring goals when you were in diapers!" And he shoves me away with a half-slap. Okay, now I'm pissed as well, but I realize, it's the heat of the game, and I guess perhaps I did provoke him. I figure, let the coach deal with it later. Then I remember who is the coach. Anyway, forgiving my tactic of putting myself in the situation, can anyone imagine a similar scenario being what happened? Sanneh has played for a long time - has he ever previously been described as anything like a cancer? Of course, it's possible - if we get a nice compendium of Sanneh evil acts going here, I'll buy it. Note, however, that missing the PK doesn't count. Bullying Cunningham into giving up the PK would, though.
JC: Tony I've got this one... I haven't missed one all year. TS: Which one of us has played in a World Cup? SO I guess I'll be taking the PK. JC: Don't be a dick, let me finish this one. TS: Man, I was scoring PKs while you were still on your raft from Jamaica.
We still haven't heard an explanation for Edson Buddle's chipped tooth late in the season....I blame Tony Sanneh.
Send him to talk to the OSU Women's basketball team. They have an orthodontist who... hell, never mind.
Hmmm. Slaps our new young star in Play off game one and tells him he "don't know ********". Somehow winds up on the front line for game two and calls our leading Scorer (a Forward who hasn't missed a PK ?) off a critical PK in game two. I'll bet they had to let him out a double door just to let his head through. Obviously a great team player...
spoken like a true coach! nice one bill! I have seen Chad and Busch get into an argument on the field towards the end of the season. I think it was the last home game of the regular season.
That's different though. I've seen about everybody holler back at Bushie from time to time. There's only so much manic shrieking from some certifiable lunatic a man can stand before you say "Oh for Crissake Jon, would you just shut the fvck up????"
i just read through all six pages of comments on "the cancer that is tony sanneh" my blood is boiling right now so the incident with marshall probably happened its also probably not nearly the big deal that the story makes it out to be and its absolutely not the reason columbus lost the playoff series the whole team played like a joke dont blame sanneh ok - his acquisition didn't work out half of all those big name deal don't work out but do not say the guy is a dick do any of you even know the guy at all i'm from minneapolis tony is from st paul we have mutual friends i have seen him play tons of times talked to him many times he is a great guy really easy to get along with he comes to thunder games every time he is in town talks to the fans his former coaches and teammates love having him around he was working out here in town all during the off season he is a serious pro yeah, he has been around the block and is near the end of his career he has tons of experience because of it from a-league to world cup to germany and has two mls championship rings to show for it how many guys on columbus have 1/10th of that none some one in one of the comments said this: try this crap around Bruce Arena and you'll have skid marks on your ass. you got that right and arena loves sanneh what does that say it speaks volumes to me about what kind of person he is so yer all bitter cuz yer team stinks the management is a joke and not one of you has a positive thought about the crew get over it and get on with it be a fan, not a hot air machine
Gee, so Mad Tony is a "freind of a freind" and so giving him a sound whacking around the Crew boards pisses you off because he likes children and puppies. Well boo-frickin-hoo. It's just us uncultured, boorish Crew fans who don't like tired old overrated has-beens blowing into town for a cup of coffee and smacking our kids in the face. Go figure. Maybe you'd like it better if we started a "Tony Sanneh Haiku" thread: shots to goal are wide like the rear of his body which is not diapered a hand to your face makes a most pleasant smacking to the old and wise the grass here is green like far fields of my glory when I did not suck
Or to song: (sung to that dixie song) Once there was a Sanneh man; hooray, hooray. Until we heard what you did one day; one day, one day. Smack Chad, That's bad... But that is Tony Sann-ay. Oh, then there was the 2nd PK; PK, PK You stole the spotlight from Big J; Big J, Big J PK PK You missed that f'in PK How lame, last game... You missed that f'in PK You're looking for coach that knows how to play; to play, to play While still getting outrageous pay; big pay, big pay To Chit, you twit. Just f'in go a-way. Big trade, we made. Now we'll deal with Ante. Sorry, it's the best I can do on a Sunday morning ...
For our friend in Minneapolis, fid why don't you photoshop that picture with a big red lettering above that piece of excrement that reads Ass Hole.
Well, perhaps he thinks this is the Thunder and he needed to carry the team. He still has some talent and tons of experience, but degraded physical skills and obviously little respect for his team mates. The Fire gets someone who can work their back line and has market appeal from Milwauke (nice place). Tony gets a fresh start in MLS and the Crew get a proven scorer who can shoot from the outside. Looks like a deal... Tony's head gets smaller and both he, Ante, and Jeff get fresh starts. Sounds like real life...
Last time I checked, and as a Wizards fan trust me - I checked, the Columbus Crew won the Supporters Shield for have the best record in Major League Soccer last season. Exactly how do you get from "having the best record" to "stinks"?
