Very well done from Lehmann not to insist on shooting the penalty. No need to humiliate the host, although it wasn`t meant to be an insult.

Sorry, but you seem to have no sense for fair play! Jens Lehmann proved to have it.

I didn't watch the first 65 minutes...but from what I've seen in this short period, the hosts played fairly. The same what the Italians did in the WC semi final.

How is it unfair to let the keeper take the penalty? If anything, it benefits the other team.

I don't think San Marino played too dirty..they kinda gave up by the end...

not many dirty tackles in today's game but then there is so arguments with Schneider and one of the San Marino's defender in the mid of the game...~ :)

  6. Would people here mind not to spoil the results of other matches here? Thanks.

    maybe the other team thinks that it is a great insult if the keeper scored...from what I see...Lehmann really wanted to take the PK (since he didnt do anything at all) but I think one of the German players told him that the host is not happy about it so he ran back ><;

but I agree if Lehmann misses the pk...it is a great chance for San Marino to score~

I really think, with all my respect, that they wouldn't score.

Wait, so did Lehman take a penalty or not?

Or did they offer it to him? Please explain. Thanks

He ran to the penalty spot after the fans' calling...but then suddenly refused for some reason.

In the after game interview he admitted that the San Marinesi asked him not to shoot cause it looked like a humiliation.

The fans shouted "Lehman, Lehman" and then he went to the penalty spot but the guys from San Marino ran to him and said: "Fair play, fair play please". And then Lehmann went back and let Schneider shoot.

I think it was a fair gesture.

no what fair play? anyone can score and if they have chance they should. IMO there is no option but to crush the opponent.i don't mean play dirty and turn the game into rugby. Humiliate the opponent with skills, goals and possesion.

why would you care about opponent's pride?

Great victory. Great to see seven different scorers and most of all great to see Germany still playing absolutely attractive and devestatingly beautiful football.

    hahaha
no offense to San Marino, but once you hit double-digits in goals conceded, humiliation is pretty much guaranteed.
They didn't celebrate any of the goals, how much can you ask for?

Woooo Hooo...I don't know why this makes me so happy....I feel like we just won gold in the olympics.....Great game by just about everyone, Poldi scored goals a clinical striker would, Jansen got 3 assists...the Hammer lived up to his name, Ballack showed his jackyl and hyde personality with a great goal and a ridiculous miss, Klose would have scored 6 goals had he stayed to play in the second half and Manuel Friedrich made proved that he can stay in the NT.

Schneider deserved to take the penalty and have his name on the scoresheet but Jens taking it would have sent it over the top...I think the San Marino guys were embarassed enough. Their captain, #10 played very dirty in the end, elbowing Odonkor in the chest, pulling him down by his shirt and going in feet first which was a shame really but overall it was ********ing great entertainment. Couldn't be more proud of the team...our boys are playing with skill and heart.

I just walked out of my last class cause I had a sense it was going to be worthwhile, shame you couldn't do the same wayne.

Not going to be this easy against the Czechs though:p

i noticed that they actually did celebrate any "Out there" kind of goal. anything that was shot from outside the box or the quick break aways (Odonkor and Sch.'s)
