God, how in the hell can a ref miss a clear penalty like that? How can the linesman miss a guy who's offsides by LIKE 5 YARDS? How can Ty Keough nit pick every play by saying that there was a better option available? How can Ty Keough being half Mexican like rough play so much? What really pisses me off about Ty is that he always tries to second guess everything like he's up there coaching or something. "Razov had Beasley open on the left." It's f ucking Ante Razov Ty, he gets the ball anywhere near the area he's going to uncork the shot. American players dilly around too much with passing at times when they're close to the box and I find it refreshing that Ante's first instince near the 18 is to rip a shot off. How can Rob Stone let shot after shot go by without getting excited? Points for Rob--he spotted the penalty. We still get these dickheads talking WHILE THERE'S ACTION GOING ON, sometimes CLOSE TO THE AREA. How can CJ Brown give ball after ball away so easily? Sarachan--"CJ's looking a little tired." That's code for 'CJ sucked today'. Ty, Rob and Waldo's voices all suck for announcing. The game was decent level wise, Sarachan is doing a good job for the Fire, and there were young future stars all over the pitch. Yes I feel like bitching..
Nice game. The new guy from SJ impressed me the most he looked like DMB a little. The Ref sucked big time, even Stevie Wonder could have called the offside
Just got home from the game. The ref was absolutely horrendous. I love how the south line judge "gifted" Chicago with that third goal; and the fourth, likewise, should have never happened. The North line judge was equally as poor, alwya giving the defender the advantage. Apparently, Lagos was only obstructed at the top of the box. While it shouldn't have been a penalty, it should have been an indirect free-kick in the box. Ridiculous. BTW, the "new guy" you're referring to is Jamil Walker, a rookie from Santa Barbara. If we hadn't signed a player we'd waived before the season started, we would have had to go to our backup goalkeeper for our third substitute.
The 3rd goal was a clear offside. The fourth goal, as seen on replay, was clearly a good goal. At the time the ball was put across, Beasley was held onside by at least two Quakes; no offside whatsoever. It was nice to see some of the young players excel for both teams: Mapp for Chicago, and Dunivant and Walker for the Quakes. That young player, Alvarez, had a good outing as well, considering he is only 17 years of age. He tried a little too much of the 1 v. 1, but you have to appreciate the confidence to have a go.
If Alavarez is only 17 then I think he'll become a great player. The offside non-call was terrible. But I wouldn't have given Manny an indirect free kick either.
I dont know how you can not call a foul there, it was clearly a late challenge that took out the body of Manny. You shouldnt penalize an attacker because the defender was stupid inside the box instead of outside it. You have to at least reward an indirect free, if not a PK, although a PK was fully justified.
The Earthquakes injury situation is so bad that Frank Yallop and/or Dominic Kinnear almost needed to suit up and play today! -G
One thing about the broadcast, though...I thought Wynalda was dead-on when he talked about how the Fire were keeping the ball at their feet too long. That was a pretty astute comment. Yeah, the third goal was offside. We're not giving it back. Later, COZ
3rd goal was bogus... but like coz said... we're keeping it boca non-call... i thought something should have been called... ty is an idiot and completely unconnected with reality 4th goal... nice work from nate jaqua to set that up... and run dmb there to put it away
I think Lagos didn't get the call because he was bitching all day long and the ref wanted to give him something to complain about. Linesman made a nice call on the Alvarez cross that Lagos put in, how he saw it I'll never know. Maybe it was Osmosis. The offside on the 3rd goal was hilarious...last night in our U14 game we had the exact thing happen, only our lineschunkmoma was tying her shoe. She tied her shoes 11 times according to parents and missed about 100 offside calls. Maybe he was tying his shoe? Ty and Rob: I already volunteered to fly to LA to do the Fox game, but I'd love to do the opener in the Home Depot Box. I'll fly out there, do the PBP and you guys can email me your questions. "Ask Panic" - "Got a PM from the Wanderer - he wants to know how come the Galaxy can't score?" Well the answer is fairly simple, the Rapids are doing all they can to stop them, and Cienfuegos is too old to play for any length of time. Cobi Jones is a punk, and they have Chris Albright out there. By the way, according to FSW Chris Albright (#5) and Sasha Victorine (#11) are twins.
You're complicating the issue far too much. Zero shots on goal = no score. That's simple. Ask the Rapids.
Yes, but then I wouldn't be able to get my comments about Cobi in there. "Oh here is a question from jmeissen from outside Chicago" "How's the new stadium?" "Really nice, but it would be better served in Chicago - here that Big Phil?"
Ringo, thanks for the clarification. About the fourth goal; I obviously couldn't tell from my end of the stadium but it looked offside. I'm apparently mistaken so thanks for the correction. I couldn't tell on the Lagos "goal" either.
Manny Lagos should date Ty Keough. They'd be in love with each other, as much as they like to complain.
I went to Saturday's game & thought the ref was horrible. A question for folks who watched the game on TV: The Quakes would-be first goal was waved off. It sure didn't look offside to me at the time. Can anyone comment. I left the match thinking the Quakes scored two goals & definately deserved a PK for a third goal. Amazing how the Quakes walk away on a 1-4 losing end. At home.
I wish that happened because Justin Mapp would've been put on his ass at least once. See: Landon/Perez/corner flag Dunivant could use some bite.
WAHH? Is that the sound of Donovan flopping and hurting himself? I wasn't complaining about Perez. But if he's eligible for Mexico, by all means they should call him up.
As much as I hate to defend Chicago, I also enjoy pissing on the Quakes, so it's a push. From what I could tell on TV, Waibel (in the middle) was keeping Razov onside on his goal. I have the feeling Ty and Waldo were going by the defender that was closer to Ratface on the right side, who was a few steps behind Auntie.
Razov was not the one who was offside. It was Whitfield who was offside when he received the ball along the sideline, which he then passed to Razov who scored.
That's right, now I remember the play more clearly, but I still contend that Waibel was keeping Whitifield onside.
go to MLSNET.com and the multimedia section and download Razov's goal. There is no question Whitfield was about 4 yards offsides when the pass was made.
