sounds like Yallop has no faith in Saunders, at least in the short term

can a team really "borrow" a goalkeeper for the CCC; i wonder if there's any rules prohibiting that. i hope the Quakes know what they are doing.

At least its good news on DeRosario. And I hope he can swing something for "the attacking third" like he suggests--assuming themoney for the back up keeper doesn't ruin his plans.

Saunders draft position pretty much reflects that Yallop all along expected to have to develop him. I think it's smart not to let injuries force the issue, if it's at all avoidable. If Saunders were thrown into the fire and didn't do that well, it could be a serious blow to his confidence, his repuation, his development and, of course, the Earthquakes season.

By "borrow" I would think that would have to be on loan. I don't think they can play non-rostered players. So the player would have to be on a short-term loan and rostered. Once the player played (or even was officially on the bench), they'd be cup tied. That shouldn't matter unless the player has aspirations for joining one of the other teams in the competition before the end of the competition.

Even before Jon got hurt, we needed another keeper. Jon make have been the starter, but we needed someone with experience to push Jon, help continue his develop, and be an alternative option in case Jon doesn't rise to be a solid starter in the league.

So, I don't see this a lack of confidence in Saunders, but just plain reality. If Saunders was ready to start in this league, he would have been drafted much higher...
