"Jury indicts judge, ex-cop"       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
From that article (interesting stuff, by the way, Goodsie)... But others in the legal system have questioned the proceedings, including some defense attorneys who have suggested the prosecution is politically motivated by a district attorney's office that has clashed with Danser in the past. The grand jury has been looking into whether Danser abused his power, possibly by bestowing courtroom favors to members of the Sharks and the San Jose Earthquakes soccer team, among others. At least 30 witnesses appeared before the grand jury, including members of the Sharks and Earthquakes, in the secret proceedings, which took place over six days. Earthquakes forward Dwayne DeRosario, who was called to testify, had a ticket that was dismissed after his case was transferred to Danser's courtroom, records show. Another witness not connected to the Sharks or Earthquakes told the Mercury News before testifying that he had a speeding ticket that was dismissed after he was asked to make a donation to the Los Gatos Little League, for which Danser once served as president. No reflection at all on DeRosario, obviously-- but what Danser did here, isn't that a conflict of interest? Or, at the very least, an abuse of his powers of someone in his position? Sounds like Danser is a very shady character, indeed...
Tongue-in-cheek here, but I think the sign that an MLS team's player/trainer (Bruce Morgan's been a good guy when I have had the opportunity to talk with him) apparently got favors/perks from a judge is definitely a sign that MLS has arrived. Tony
