Anthony Dominguez of San Jose is obviously an idiot. I hope he holds his breath waiting for that NFL expansion team to arrive.
Guys like Anthony Dominguez are certainly a great help, aren't they? If they love the NFL, MLB and the NBA so much, why don't they just keep it there. Dumping on soccer seems to be what really is the minor sport with these guys.
Also, Jack Barry of San Francisco is arguably an even bigger nightmare for those trying to restore the Quakes franchise. It's one thing for the soccer haters like Anthony Dominguez to spout off about the issue, but when someone such as Barry, a former Quakes season ticket holder who ostensibly like(d) the sport, publically slams plans to build a stadium and restore the team, it is much more likely to have a devastating impact on the efforts of SSV and others to pick up the pieces and get something positive going. I understand and empathize with the anger that's out there, and it's a matter of individual choice as to whether or not to support the team in future, but I would say to those such as Jack Barry: don't use your anger to screw things up for the rest of us who want to bring Quakes football back to San Jose.
Those 2 are really a bunch of jerks, well that's their opinion but that is so silly and so stupid to be talking @#$%%! about our sport that guy is just an idiot, what a loser ! ! !
He can keep his STEROID, ARROGANT, SPOILED, FREAKS and keep rooting for them but he just needs to stay out of our BACKYARD ! ! ! !
He's just one of those jackasses who knows nothing about soccer apparently. Just take comments like that with a grain of salt. If you've ever played and hey, even being a fan, you know there's tons of ignorant retards like this spouting off how soccer isn't that great. But I bet they couldn't tell you that the sports they love have relatively squeaky clean players. At least the MLS isn't full of overpaid, spoiled rich brats who take drugs, steal, beat on their wives, cheat on their wives and are generally bad influences because they're about the money and not the love of the sport. I'm sure there's problems here and there in the MLS, but not as bad as the big 3 sports here in the US. Better to have a sport in the area that's a better influence on the community than sports where a good portion of the players on those teams don't give a squat about their fans.
The thing is, he might have gotten away with it if he had just dissed soccer, or even lacrosse. But picking on chess shows what a really shallow, classless, hopeless speck of humanity he is.
Anyway, never mind all that: what the hell has happened to Diamond Dave's hair? Talk about someone in need of conditioner!
What a lovely Christmas sentiment to receive from those two! For Dominguez, I hope whatever team is near and dear to him uproots and moves soon...then, let's see out of which side of his mouth he talks! I hope Jack Barry will get caught up in the enthusiasm and come to realize that he doesn't have to miss out on the game. I think most, if not all of us went through a period where we said "I'm done with MLS...it's dead to me" after the Quakes left. I admit I did. Then, when the discussion of the team reemerging took on some legitimate life, I started feeling hopeful that we might all get to party in the sun at a game again someday. Granted, we'd be starting from scratch but at least we'd have a team and we'd have the fun of the event together again. Seems worthwhile to me!!!
Jack Barry is just as disgruntled as everyone else--obviously the frustration level has been high for the past couple of weeks. In my case, it really hasn't hit home until now and that drivel from Anthony Dominguez is the last thing anyone needs. It's the adage--opinions are like arseholes. Another day it would just be nothing but this Christmas, well, all the fans here wanted was for the team to stay. Everything at the City Council meeting in December really hit close to home today.
So, wait a second. Is this "Anthony Dominguez" tool from San Jose or Gilroy, which is how he signed his anti-Quakes letter back in November??? And how come he's the only one coming out this strongly anti-MLS? And if he's the only one, why is the Merc even bothering with this a-hole, much less pretty much repeating himself in two letters in the same month? The mysteries of life. PS--Nice avatar, Nap. Where'd ya get that one, cropped so perfectly and all?
No kidding, same guy shows up twice? In a month...? Yeah and I noticed the avatar too...how could you not! Shameful copyright infringment! BTW, driving by the giant Great America marquee today, right on their jumbo screen, was the Quakes logo....anyone know what's up with that? As if there weren't enough reminders of our loss, Fifa 2006 arrives as a Christmas gift...there's DeRo, cornrows and all! I haven't been able to get him to do the chicken dance though!
I was just yanking Nap's chain. Hope he realizes that. We're both infringing on Rob Zombie's copyright. Wow.
Running gag I'm trying to play on a few people. And well aware of it! Glad you mentioned that--when I was driving Christmas to San Jose, at the Ikea signage at University Avenue in Palo Alto I saw an electronic ad for the Quakes saying "Thank you for a wonderful 10 seasons". I was driving so I couldn't glance at it for long but it was rather bittersweet.
Sounds like damage control PR from MLS. But on the plus side, it's an indicator that they do have hopes of returning given the right economic and commercial conditions, otherwise they likely wouldn't have even bothered.
I would think so as well. I had seen more of the Quakes adverts at the Great America signage than at the Ikea one in Palo Alto. It just had me thinking, especially around the Ikea store--if only a few more ads were shown there, but that's just me.
