I think the women's league as opposed to the MLS should concentrate on a more regional schedule. I mean it makes no sense for a smaller funded league to travel from San Jose to La to Boston, Philly NY and back to Dallas etc etc. I think if you have more teams in the west, central and eastern they can be independent leagues, with maybe the finals or playoffs at the end of the season. This would save that much more money in the long run. For the size of this country, I'd think this should be the wave/mentality of the future.

    From "The Fans Speak Out":

    ....what?

I'd rather lose a team and get a new one than lose a team and be soccer-less for years. Did I ever think about not watching the MLS after they took the Quakes? Not a chance. I had a gut feeling we'd get a team back and when we did, I was HAPPY!

I can understand the sentiment in that letter, although of course I don't share it. What struck me was that it seemed to be written by a five year old. "they can take their stupid soccer leagues . . . "? My twelve year old cousin speaks more maturely than that.

Not only that but the Bay Area one of the top soccer markets in the country and at least the biggest sports market in the country. Not having a soccer team here is bad business and the league knows it.

Even though it's a new team, it's still the two-time MLS Cup Champions. By proving that, the Quakes have a coach who brought those two to San Jose.

    "...never following that sport again..."

    > means "I never really followed that sport in the first place"

    So go away

I think "that" is a key word in the statement.
