from pregame thread << The Earthquakes triumphantly declaring to the world "Tonight let us make them remember... this is Spartan, and we are not afraid!"? >> apt and prophetic
As said by Goose and found in MLS Confidential: "I'd like Tom Cruise to play me in the movie," said Agoos, perhaps referring to the cinematic version of Mission Impossible. "You couldn't have scripted this any better."
TCS: A Galaxy of Chage "I can’t wait for this weekend, but I’m just not ready to stop reliving Sunday." Great bit there about the game. And a comment on Marshall's comment on Landon.
Well I finally got through the whole thread and I think it needs to get bumped up. And I get to thank Spartacus for bringing back my conflicted memories the '86 game. I think the Spartans were down by much more than ten earlier and came back to with in three before FSU scored late. And I left!?!? I learned that day that games at Spartan stadium arn't over til we say they are over.
Re: am i the only one that thinks wagman's a dick? I agree, Toffees. IMHO, the frustrated bleatings of an LA homer. And a dick[head].
Re: Re: am i the only one that thinks wagman's a dick? Homer? Dude lives in the D.C. suburbs, several thousand miles from California.
Re: Re: Re: am i the only one that thinks wagman's a dick? Is being a homer determined by geographical location?
Re: Re: Re: Re: am i the only one that thinks wagman's a dick? Yes. If he has never lived or worked there, it's not his home. Therefore, he's not a homer. He could still has some other reason for favoring the team, but he wouldn't be a home. Maybe someone knows of a Wagman connection to L.A., but he seems very much non-Calif. to me.
Perhaps "homer" isn't quite right. But why in the world would he try to suck the life out of such a thrilling game? Now you can argue about the meaning of "best" and that's fine and would even be appreciated. But Wagman's article (from what I remember reading it a day or so ago) just seems like Mr. Partypooper who doesn't want the rest of us ninnies to have a good time. In fact, I think the SJ/KC game was even better -- it was played at a higher level by both teams, throughout. Which may be roughly the same point Wagman was making. But the spirit of the column was just plain wrong. The league ought to be on a high right now. Wagman's article is a downer.
Thank You Galaxy!! Somewhere along the line, we have to give thanks to the Galaxy. In the early part of the season, when the Q's played the Galaxy, whenever Brian Ching, Craig Waibel or Brian Mullan touched the ball, the Galaxians and/or Riot Squad would chant: "LA Reject. . ." Well, thank you LA! We couldn't have done it without you (and to you!)!
