San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread       Will the good guys from Saint Joe claim their rightful place as the 2002 MLS Supporters' Shield winners going into their playoff defense of The Championship?       Will the bad guys from The City of Angels take their wrongful place as the first seed in the upcoming playoffs?       The Earthquakes wearing their blue and white for the majority of their playoff games? Los Angeles enjoying its smog-field advantage throughout the postseason?       Discuss.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
LA is in the driver's seat since a win or a draw gives them the West and the Shield/regular season title. San Jose needs a win outright to claim the West and the Shield/regular season title. However, all isn't lost since the Quakes have won all their games and only tied against DC. This time a draw will not be a good result. Plain and simple--get a goal and hold on to the lead. The Quakes cannot worry about getting jobbed by the RA for a missed call. Although it will get heated, LA fans are still welcome to hang out before the game. Civility rules for this one. Expect a large crowd for this one.
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread More importantly, what do we do with our back line?! Im thinking Agoos/Dayak Robinson Barrett Lagos( ) Ekelund Mulrooney Corrales DeRosario Graziani Seriously, I think Landon should be benched to show he is not indespencible to the club and he needs to perform and do his job, score goals!
Unless they are hooligans, forget it. This was mentioned in another thread but there are the LA fans who have been nice and friendly and despite the rivalry at least it's cordial. This rose from one of the LA fans who didn't want the SJ fans at his tailgate. Hate is a strong word, but unlike other SF/SJ-LA/OC rivalries there has been more goodwill among the fans. There are the LA fans who don't want to mingle with the SJ fans, and the other way around--however at the Supporter's Summits and National Team events there seems to be some peaceful coexistance, except with some of the fans here and the fans from the Galaxians. A few might rub it in but that's about it. Otherwise it's just people talking about stuff and catching up on a few things. It's been discussed...
My hope is that Ibsen starts for Jimmy and then breaks Ruiz's leg on a bad tackle. You think I'm joking?
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread Ask anybody in the chatroom in-game... I want Ibsen to pull a Serna-like game 2 move and take both out..
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread We need to make F's Fort a Philidelphia style game.. Be ruthless 'Quakes fans.. Boo the Laxatives every time they touch the ball.. Scream obsenities at them.. Do whatever.. Go 'Quakes Take No Prisoners 6-0 ROUT!!
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread When LA gets here, go to their hotel and make as much noise as you can.. make sure they know theyve arrived in hell as soon as they get here...
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread Nap, how the hell are they going to rub anything in? Anyone who wants to brag about a win like that deserves to have his/her butt put in the coals. That's a freaking disgrace.
Re: San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread The hooligans will rub it in incessantly. Some might mention it, a few in jest, but that's about it. They can, if they choose, can smack all they want. Common sense would say don't mention that win too much if you're a Galaxy fan. If a gal rubs it in, she gets tarred and feathered--literally. The guys can have their butts burned in the coals. Personally, the less I hear it from them the better. I'm still seething from the missed call from the RA. Add this to the storied rivalry, and the combatants aren't wearing blue/white and orange/black.
Holy $hit that was a bad call. Holy $hit. Agoos or Cannon should have smacked the $hit out of Albright.
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread And with thise refs, they probably wouldn't have even gotten a yellow for it either. But we're above that kind of behavior.
And Ruiz while they were at it. That little punk ass should have got what he was asking for by diving into the fracas.
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread Ruiz is Serna's brother. They've got the same kind of ugliness.
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread Quakes are gonna kik some major Galaxy a$$, i can feel it lol!!! Galaxy got lucky last game, but they're gonna need all the luck they can get, cuz they're going down!! i'm gonna give my prediction of 2-0 quakes with goals from Graz and hopefully if he can pull it together donovan.
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread None of that "Beat LA" ************************.. The chant is "LA sucks!" When Khartmen makes his first save in the North Endzone goal, im screaming "Hey Khartmen Nice Save!".. Hopefully it will follow with a nice "You suck!"
San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread Hi gang, the best kept secret for pre game spirits is at the Keys Club bar at the corner on Ninth and Keyes st. just 1 and a half blocks north of Spartan Stadium. Every sports stadium has that one conveniently placed bar that some Futbol revelers go to about an hour before kickoff. Well, a few seasons back I found this place and have been meeting Clash/ Earthquakes fans there. It is begining to become somewhat a cool tradtion. So, if it's too cold for you to tailgate ( or not ) you all should should join some of us twentysomthings there and talk Footie. Oh, and whatever you do, don't get this SJ State dive for that other cell block dive east of 7th st. on Keyes. And when I say "Cell-block" I mean it man! Whewww I promise I don't work there. This Saturday night against L.A. should be fun, ah hell, bring on the Galaxy fans!!
Re: San Jose - Los Angeles (Saturday, 9/21) thread That's a tad hippocritical after wanting Ruiz's leg broken. Personally I'de prefer to see the Quakes go out and beat the LA scum cleanly and decisively on the field, cheap dirty play does not belong in the game at any level. Will Troy be healthy enough to play? I sure don't want to see Ibsen on the field. Maybe better yet would be to move Ramiro back and put DeRo at midfield. The Quakes need to go all out for the win, there's really nothing to lose, win and have home field advantage through out the playoffs (and the supporters shield) lose and stay as the 3rd seed where they are right now.
