Unfortunately, if everyone supported the team like this there would be zero reason for the ownership to change anything. From their standpoint it comes down to profits not winning. So when people start thinking their tickets no longer have value and decide not to renew, that hits profits......which brings change.
I can't afford Astros, Texans, Rockets, Dash, and Dynamo tickets. I have to choose which teams I spend money out of my own pocket to support. Maybe you can afford season tickets to all or will always get season tickets to the Dynamo, but I can't swing it. If an organization tells me they are going to dump their entire roster and play scrubs for two years like the Astros, I am not a fair weather fan for only catching a single game in person during that two year period. I am a smart consumer. Look, the Texans have a long line of fans that will be there come hell or high water and will purchase season tickets again and again. You know what that has gotten them? Zero financial incentive to improve and a GM who is the Godfather to the Owner's Son who can never be fired ever.
11 seasons with season tickets, bro. Even saved an original early seating diagram with the 1836 logo on it at midfield of Robertson. Not to pat myself on the back but they've gotten enough of money that I don't owe them anything. Do I whine and moan about a lot of things here? I do. But you know what? I lived up to my end of any social contracts with them years ago. When they moved to the new stadium in many ways they shifted it all to the economics and corporate sales - somewhat justifiably so - and the emotional pull isn't the same. People get older, kids stuff takes up more time, disposable income goes different places - I don't fault anyone for not buying season tickets. Rather than snarkily dump on some fans, they should really research who may drop and why and see what they need to do better, EVEN IF IT COSTS MONEY OR INVESTMENT!!
Ah, but there is a vast difference between re-upping season tickets and buying individual game tickets when you can. Buying season tickets sends the message that all is okay. You want change, switch to individual tickets and not attending every match. You want to send the message that a team can skate by on the bare minimum and you'll keep buying, then buy the season tickets. As with everything, money talks. Many teams only take action when they begin feeling it in the bottomline.
I agree with ChrizG13 but in a slightly different manner... I get season tickets because I love the GAME and don't want to miss professional soccer being played in my city. I would love a winning team, but ME pulling my season tickets isn't going to change a thing. It just means someone else will be taking my seat. I've had my tickets since hour 1 of this team being announced and I will continue, even if we lose. I would honestly hate the thought of not being able to watch professional soccer on a consistent basis. None of this means I support losing or what is being done to improve the team (or not being done), it just means I love soccer. I honestly think sometimes these things just need to ride themselves out. Losing sucks, but someone has to be at the bottom. It's not fun, but it happens.
Huh? That sure is the story that has been sold. Below is the 1st line of his bio. First Dynamo Academy and second home-grown player in league history to be promoted to senior roster
He's not listed as one anymore since he is past his initial contract... but yes, he was an academy product. That is something that the league needs to change. He should always retain the "Academy tag," which would keep him off the salary list, thus incentivizing teams to continue to develop young talent.
I've said it before - There is only one way of forcing change (which wont happen). We would have to do a massive grassroots effort to buy tickets to the game and then not show up. That will show the discontent. Would be awesome to just have an empty stadium with all the free ticket people (corporate tix , tourists) just looking around the silent stadium and wondering WTF is going on. Do that 1nce or 2wice and heads will roll!! Other than that a couple of you not renewing wont hurt them. At the end of the year they will either be black again or slightly negative.
Y'all missing the point. Deric did not get "developed" by the Academy. He's an Academy Alumni in name only.
I hate when some Dynamo fans try to out die-hard people who've been around for years like we're the problem. One of the e-snark posts that I referenced was directed at a fan that stood next to me in 2007 at the Pachuca-Dynamo CCC away game surrounded by 40 of the Hidalgo State Police finest tactical riot squad and 30,000 Pachuca fans that wanted to tear us apart. Yeah, but we're bandwagon fans.
Good questions and that's the tough part. We smash a very good FCD team 5-0 and then proceed to melt against some perceived lesser teams. Then we beat a decent SKC team but then turn it in against SJ. Part of me wants to believe there's a good team there but it just isn't passing the eye test or worse, the results test.
Whether it's Bruin, Cubo, Manotas, etc..., they've got to have service and get themselves into positions to score. We're not getting either the service nor the positions to score.
Oh, I'm not going anywhere. I'm just upset at how this team has been constructed. I think, in my opinion, it could have been done a bit better. (Not JuveChelsea better where we get Giovinco for Sarkodie type deals though)
Don't laugh but I was talking to my wife the other day and mentioning how I miss some of those old games at Robertson. Full house vs. Pachuca. Good times.
You can imagine Leicester fans who were fed up with whatever they were fed up and decided just this past year to give their tickets up. I've been a STH since day one with my family. We'll continue to be STHers until they pry the tickets from my cold dead hands. That said, changes must be made or the fume will just get worse and worse. I know, I'm an Everton fan. We were at Defcon 5 levels of fume until today.
Your way won't force change - the only way change will happen is if YOU AFFECT THE FINANCIAL SPREADSHEET !!!!!! Buying tickets then not showing up does nothing. They lose some money on concession sales and have to throw out some food they can't freeze and resell at the Dash game. They have a renewal rate target - I think it's like 80% or something - they lose a certain amount due to normal accepted churn each year and then you get the other group of non-renewals. I think the renewals were lower this year based on what my eyes observed as available seats this year but I don't know the ultimate figure. It's hard to imagine they will improve on that figure going into 2017 with team performance and economy. Retaining is a lot easier than new sales, I don't care who argues differently. Season ticket sales allow them to lock-in a chunk of margin for 2017 and then they can budget around that. If that drops a lot it is alarm bells in any professional sports organization.
This times 20. Yeah , these Dynamo fan on Dynamo fan attacks aren't fun and just because I've paid for season tickets doesn't make me a super fan or better than someone all fired up in 2016 for the Dynamo but the thin skin on some of those FO snark tweets is really lame. When the FO twerp responsible for the account can "check all the boxes" on attending Superliga, CCL, USOC, and the postponed San Jose game from Ike with 4,000 fans in seats then they can rev up the snark machine. Worse, They're trying to make Jalil Anibaba into Bobby Baun (google it - 1964 Stanley Cup) or something and putting out bad puff-piece tweets and YouTube videos of Giles Barnes doing police ride-alongs instead of just shutting up
So what you're saying is that it is those of us who renew year after year who are to blame. By continuing to financially support the team we are actually contributing to the mediocrity. Interesting theory. Scene - Dynamo after game presser May 14, 2016 following loss to Real Salt Lake Reporter - "This team has the worst record in MLS and this loss of 22 -0 had people crying in the stands, can you explain what the problem is?" Coyle - "Simple Jimmy, tis th' seezin ticket holders fault. If thay keep buying thaim, 'n' giein' th' bosses thair dosh, thir's na somehin` init fur thaim tae improve 'n' buy better players"
MLS and maybe hockey is still driven quite a bit by actual ticket sales and gate revenue. If they lose STHs due to,performance they can either a) spend more to improve performance or quality of experience or b) spend less and cut costs at a rate quicker than revenues decline I wonder at times if the FO is so insulated by getting "announced" crowds of 20,000 per game that they simply don't care or see any correlation between performance on the field and revenue because a chunk of the masses renew every year.
No, not at all, a lot of things have to happen for a team to spiral into the abyss. However, once you reach the consistent level of mediocrity that this team has achieved over the past going on five years, if you keep packing in 20,000+ per game despite that, then there is not a lot of incentive to change anything. As a Chicagoan I have a lifetime of this. While the Tribune owned them. the Cubs were awful year in and year out. People kept coming, though, so there was no real incentive to do anything differently. The Tribune made a killing off of the Cubs financially. It wasn't until the Tribune sold the team to Ricketts who actually wanted to win that there was suddenly a substantial effort to change things. End result? Playoffs last year, best record in baseball right now. So maybe Brener wants to win and does things without the financial pressure. But one thing I can absolutely guarantee, if you see your revenue beginning to slide then you take action to correct that.
I like supporting the dynamo by watching'em on tv cause when they piss me off I always flip the channel. It's a neat trick I learned from bandwagon fans but it's made me tolerate watching our hometeam tread water over the years.
