Will San José rumble away the self-proclaimed royal invaders from the saliferous pond? Will Salt Lake pour away the defenders of the stands of Lawrence T. Shaw? The Earthquakes reverberating the start of a new season? Real decreeing victory for the second consecutive opening day? Discuss. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

Awesome! With DirecTV, since I've already ordered the MLS Direct Kick package in the past and have never canceled it, it'll auto-renew for this season unless I call and cancel. And there's no way that I'm making that call! GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I like our chances against RSL in our season opener this year. They'll be tired from playing in the CCL semis just a few days before this match up and they dont have Findley anymore. I'm sure AA will be licking his chops at scoring against his old club but I'm confident that our backline has seen enough of him in the last few years to be able to contain him and his left foot.
If he scores on us with his right foot, I'll personally jump on the field and let him know my feelings.
The Quakes would do well to start the season off with a win: "Climbing the Ladder: Champs usually start hot" (Wednesday, 3/9/11) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Has Comcast released the TV schedule for this season yet? Haven't seen anything in print or any announcements
I liked our chances better when Lenhart wasn't hurt. And I'd like them more if RSL played Wednesday instead of Tuesday. But I do think how that Tuesday game goes can matter. We really need to be hoping Saprissa scores early and makes RSL chase the game. As the season gets going previous games won't matter much. But this early on, it's not nearly as good for us if Saprissa doesn't make a good showing and allows RSL to just pass the ball around and do very little running. If that happens they'll just gain confidence and "in season form." However if Saprissa can make them chase the game and never settle and spend lots of energy, that will be good.
Agreed in most part but.... Having watched RSL play Columbus both games I think it's safe to say that Real look like they are in mid-season form right now, their passing is crisp and accurate, their players look very fit and healthy, their strikers are just as dangerous as last year and their defense is really solid. This game won't be a cake walk, quite the opposite in fact.
I'm not gonna root against RSL in the CL. They are the only US team left and I hope they tear Saprissa to pieces and whichever Mexican team they get. To be the best you gotta beat the best so we will see early one if this years team is not a one hit wonder. Also is Direct Kick in HD or no? I'm gonna want to watch some Red Bulls games.
The CSN California HD / CSN Bay Area HD schedule hasn't been released yet. Hopefully soon. However, this particular game is listed both at the CSN Bay Area website here and on my DirecTV onscreen guide. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
DirecTV definitely has the MLS Direct Kick package in both SD and HD. I'm not sure about the other carriers, though Comcast didn't have Direct Kick in HD the last time I had Comcast almost three years ago. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
comcast still didn't have direct kick in HD in 2010, it sucked watching games there after being used to the CSN HD coverage. regarding the RSL vs. Saprissa game, are they playing in SLC or away? in the RSL home leg game against Columbus, RSL looked great and I agree as if they were playing in mid-season form. their confidence is growing and growing which is not good for us. hopefully we cut the timbers down by a couple of goals and RSL comes out tired/flat.
First leg is SLC, so there's not any added travel that might tire them. We need Saprissa to do that, and away from home.
Which carrier do you have (AT&T U-verse, Comcast, DirecTV or DISH Network)? IIRC, the package is either $69 or $79. I logged in and checked out the DirecTV MLS Direct Kick page and you're right: as of this posting, the pull-down menu that's normally there (from which you can choose to either pay for the whole package at once or in three monthly installments) is missing. Hopefully it'll return soon, though you can also call them and order the package over the phone. I hope that helped. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Yikes! There's that old proverb: "Once one gets used to the sweet, it's hard to go back to the bitter". In this case, once one gets used to 16:9 HD and even to upconverted 4:3, it's hard to go back to 4:3 SD. Fortunately, although we won't know for sure until the full CSN California / CSN Bay Area schedule for the Quakes is released at some point soon, it's likely that the only non-16:9 HD game that we'll have to endure for our team is the June 4th game against Houston on Galavisión (unless you have DISH Network, which is currently the only carrier that carries Galavisión HD)... though that's assuming that neither of our CSN's decides to broadcast that game as well. It was $79 on DISH, so maybe a safe bet that it's the same elsewhere? It should have been less last season. Only select games were broadcast in HD and I don't think a single Quakes game was - at least not in my market (another part of the AEG conspiracy??!?). I bought online, so maybe there's a plus. Actually it's definitely a plus not to have to talk with DISH support... dumber than a bucket of nails and not nearly as useful.
