    San José felling the visitors?

    Portland quelling the hosts?

The Earthquakes rumbling on? The Timbers rising upward?

    Discuss.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

I, for one, am glad that the league has decided to move forward and play the regular season games. With or without fans I'll have live soccer to watch and that's always a good thing.

    Testify!

I want to see more soccer games this year, even if I don't take it very seriously. I want to see the youngsters get a runout. I want to see Old Man Wondo bag some more goals. I want to see JT in goal!! Damnit!!

BUT, far and above all of that, I want everyone to be safe and healthy. I hope like hell that the league and teams know what they are doing and do it right. I'd rather fewer or no games and everyone safe than play a bunch of games and have a bunch of people get sick.

    Be safe everyone!!

    GO Quakes!!
    GO Quakesfans!!

"Regular season play" seems a bit of a stretch.

Exactly, that would be ridiculously high for mid-August. We would seriously be talking about playoffs.

Well, we do seem to be at the mid-season point. We have played 5 games and 6 more are scheduled. Is that the end of the season or just another test run to see if more can be added?

    From the MLS annoucement:
"MLS announced Saturday that each team will play 18 more regular-season games in a “phased approach.” The regular season is scheduled to end on Nov. 8."

FYI - these games will not be staffed by any game day operations staff, so I'll have to watch on TV like the rest of the hoi polloi...

I am not going to the viewing party. Our team immediately have a better chance to get a point or three.

Yeah, that was at least part of the idea. ;)

More seriously and soberly, I think that the ForestKillers have looked pretty good. Specifically, they have a lot of speed, and they counter-attack well. Two areas of vulnerability for us. We need Flo on the backline, and for Judson and Jackson to play lights out. I think that our offense is up to the task of scoring on them, but I fear that we won't be able to stop them scoring on us.

Happily, I have lots of good beer on hand.

    Go Quakes!!
