Wow, how cool is that? Next round against LA, at home, and with free tickets for STH

Hopefully it will go better than the last time they hosted LA in a USOC match, which was at Spartan Stadium in 2005, and IIRC Herculez Gomez scored a brace and they lost 2-0. That may have been the same game where Gomez taunted Dom with a "see you in Houston" comment or something like that.

Coming four days after the Stanford California Classico, this has the potential of being a very interesting game!

No, I believe Gomez said that in the second leg of the 2005 playoffs at Spartan, (the final game before the Move). Dom had rifled the ball into Gomez when he was on the ground, and that was when Gomez made the comment.

I recall a USOC game against these guys at USF. Kennedy was the ref and the game went to PKs. He called Conway for moving before the kick after Jon had saved a Galaxy shot. Everyone went nuts and after LA won, Kennedy needed an escort to escape the pissed off crowd......

I recall meeting Dan Loney at that game.

I don't think the Quakes have played there since. People were literally standing on the sidelines of the field.

Quakes played a preseason friendly against Shanghai there in 2003.

Well, I've learned my lesson, and I think we will leave for the stadium at 3:30 pm. Guess we'll park and then eat dinner next to Lowe's... assuming there are eateries there.

If I remember correctly, these two teams played a USOC match on a Wednesday followed by a league match on a Saturday in 2005, both at Spartan.

LA won the Open Cup match with help from San Jose keeper Jon "Wrong Way" Conway's two mistakes that led directly to LA goals. San Jose won the MLS game (was that the one with two LA own goals?). Of course, LA had the last laugh that year.

How fitting.. With Arena's reputation we can hope he's not taking this game seriously. Problem is I don't think Kinnear is taking it much more either. With our friendlies scheduled so close I have no idea who we'll see trotted out for this game. Hosting the round is a BIG advantage. Go Quakes!

So it's a battle to be determined by who will take this game not seriously less. o_O

Sandwiched between the Stanford game and Portland away on the 5th, I doubt Kinnear is going to take it very seriously.

You were lucky you didn't get mauled! I recall a pretty big pitch invasion because the field had no barriers and there was a serious throng of people around Kennedy screaming at him. He looked very scared to me....

Mod Pizza and a pitcher does a pregame right.

ha ha, yes that would be my #1 out of those 3 choices.
Altho, i stopped eating at Chipotle in favor of Baja Fresh and Unamas. Chipotle is too salty.

They uploaded the tickets into accounts--they say "Bonus Game C" when you print them...which completely contradicts both the information they put out before the Sac game and the information they put out about this game. I have no idea if I could have just used the Bonus Game C ticket in my ticket book.

Don't do that!!! The Bonus Game C ticket in our books will be for a different match (unless the FO lied to us). The name on the online ticket is confusing and clumsy.
