I was offered 200 free tickets to give away. Let that sink in. I have paperwork. I turned down.

Great point, want an attendance boost? Get a Miami/Messi game.

Yeah but if he doesn’t play it’s a MessyMessi™ game and just winds up pissing off many thousands of fans.

I don’t blame Messi or Miami. They have to manage the minutes of their old guys. Plus VC is turf. But the marketing teams plug the games for months and build season tickets packs around and everything else. And people don’t think it through. It’s a risk - he may not play. VC should have been transparent months ago that Miami’s on the schedule but he might not play. But the marketing teams just can’t resist. They could also have built-in no Messi refunds. But it’s not just the game tickets. People travel from out of town and boom hotel rooms etc.

I have zero sympathy for the twats who paid big money and/or traveled long distances just to see an aged Messi. Celebrity worship is a disease. Go check in to a rehab institution.

    seen on reddit:

 "We’ve lost 5 of the last 6 Cali Classicos and that one other game was a draw."

    is that true?

Quakes are due and with new coach bump, how can we lose?

The Quakes have lost six of seven against everyone and the other game was a draw.

Ah yes, if you flip a coin and it's heads 5 times in a row, it's *gotta* be tails next because it's "due". :)

I thought our recent record at Stanford was a little better, but I think it's 2-2-2 in the last 6 and 0-2-2 in the last 4, if I have that right.

The Earthquakes already lost the previous two California Clásico games this season, and last season they tied one and lost two Clásico games.

In 2022, the Earthquakes won the California Clásico game in Carson but then later lost the Clásico in Stanford, so whoever wrote "We’ve lost 5 of the last 6 Cali Classicos and that one other game was a draw." is absolutely correct (despite misspelling Clásicos).

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Yeah, I know we've been generally sucking against the Gals recently, but I thought our Stanford record was a little better than it's been recently.

Considering that California Clásico is the name of the overall Earthquakes-Galaxy rivalry in general (rather than the name of a single annual game), that redditor wasn’t wrong.

But if you’re comparing only the Stanford California Clásico games, then you’re right that the Earthquakes have fared somewhat better. In fact, wasn’t one of Zlatan’s final MLS games a Clásico defeat to the Earthquakes at Stanford? :D

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

I wasn't disputing the "redditor". I was just musing about the Quakes record against the Gals at Stanford. We did win against Zlatan one time, and I think another was a tie? There was that game where Flo had Zlatan "in his back pocket". 2017 I think. Some of the venues on the Quakes historical results / schedule do not have Stanford stadium listed when it should so my numbers may be a little off. Just saw that the 2017 game is listed as "PPP" when attendance was 50k.
