What is the chance the Brandon McDonald sees the pitch this weekend? I would have thought a lot until I realized the LAG is a completely different side then one he played on. He will own Miglioranzi, Tudela, Franklin as a midfielder, Kovalenko et al.
i'm not sure about mcdonald. he's more of a cover for corrales or elliot, and we're only down our 2nd choice right winger. he could make the bench though.
Is there even a bench limit at home. I thought while you can't travel all 24, you can call all 24 at home. Is that wrong?
The Merc should have written that article. This is exactly the sort of basic story the Quakes are not getting from local media. In fact, I didn't see anything in the Merc about tomorrow's game (unless you count the TV listings). Meanwhile, three straight days and counting of Mark Purdy columns about the Sharks, who've scored as many goals in their last two playoff games (dating back to last season) as I have. Good thing we Americans can appreciate a game where scoring isn't everything . . .
Not sure, but there are 18 players listed in MatchTracker for the matches, home or otherwise. McDonald has been on the bench in some of the matches, I think the last two home matches.
According to Centerline.com, Hucks will not be playing tomorrow. Convey may be the LM. And I guess Denton will be LB. We also don't have Salinas. Hope no side players get hurt in the match as we don't have many options.
With Hucks out, any guesses at the lineup? I'm thinking Weaver-Amerikwa Convey-RC-Elliott-Arturo Denton-Garcia-Cochrane-Leitch Cannon Leaving RJ on the bench to being gives you at least some coverage at LM and ST if anyone goes down.
It looks like Buddle did not travel with the Galaxy, but Dunivant (who was questionable) did. 100 Percent Soccer - Galaxy, Chivas USA & Sol Injury Update
And Convey, as good of an attacking option as he is, had better provide some sort of defensive aid cover for Denton on the left. Maybe RJ comes in for Denton after halftime, with Convey going to left back. Denton and the mistakes he makes, almost routinely, it seems, cannot cost us against our biggest rival.
And guess what? We're favored, heavily -- at least according to a couple of Aussie betting sites. Centrebet, one online bookmaking company: San Jose Earthquakes $1.92 Draw $3.20 Los Angeles Galaxy $3.75 And according to TAB SportsBet in Melbourne, which is the widespread and official form for odds here: San Jose $1.80 Draw $3.40 L.A. Galaxy $3.85 Each of these are based on each $1 bet. Hope it's not the kiss of death!
I'm surprised to see that LA is the underdog in this game. I thought both sides would be a kind of even spread. Guess not.
I certainly hope he is back for the Seattle game. And yes, Yallop did indicate Convey would be at left midfield against the Gals.
Where are you clicking? I was able to get to the ticket section just fine. http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?orgid=28027&schedule=list
This is the way I see it. We'll be without our two most exciting players in Hucks and Salinas. Whenever either of them gets the ball, the crowd gets excited because of their style of play. HOWEVER, I don't think they are the biggest losses that we could have had. I'm still more worried about Jason Hernandez. He may not be exciting, but judging by the goals scored against us, he held it down back there. Imagine if we lost Joe Cannon, Ramiro Corrales (again), or Nick Garcia at this stage. Then, we'd be in a heap of shit. Yeah, it sucks that some newbies coming to the game tomorrow won't get to see possibly my two favorite players tearing the scum to shreds, but they will still hopefully see a Quakes win.
Convey is going to kick ass. He'll be in his "natural" position. Nobody will appreciate this more than Weaver and RJ who will finally have somebody serving them crosses.
