The final score is: 1 - 3 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G P.S. = Please don't post results of other soccer (including MLS) games and other sports' games in this thread until at least 24 hours after they've ended.
Please tell me more about how disappointed you would all be if the Quakes signed Vela lmao. My dad would be an upgrade in the attacking third at this point
That was dire, embarrassing, and depressing. I wonder if I’m going to have to stop watching, like I’ve done with the Sharks?
I was really expecting that ref to trip and fall while back-pedaling. He looked like he had some kind of hip problem, altho it was less apparent in the 2H - probably the hip had warmed up.
I thought we had a decent chance to score a 2nd and make it interesting but the Gals killed off the game pretty well. We couldn’t get the ball. And then by the end we had a rec team out there - a bunch of guys who haven’t played together, some in unfamiliar roles. Benji as CAM? That came up this week. I explained why it doesn’t work and why. And now we see it. It’s a long season. Hopefully we start to play better. I’m not particularly down on any of the new players. I’d been told by a Bødo fan that Pellegrino looks nonchalant and then he scores. We know he’s not a take guys on guy. I’d already shown the charts and everything, watched aomw of his games, and called that out. That’s not his game. He floats in and finishes service.
Quakes aren't that bad of a team....until they get the ball in the final third....then any creativity they had seems to go out the window.
It feels like one of those drills where all the players have to pass the ball in front of the goal before anyone can take a shot.
I think that’s it in a nutshell. The game went the way I feared. We can’t score on our possession near the box and then get burned in LA’s counter. My question is - why can’t we be a counterattacking team. We win the ball and then it’s a slow roll. Play a long pass into space. Pelligrino is fast with a little run-up. Espinoza is fast. Skahan is fast. Jebo is reasonably fast.
Perennial hope is the narcotic that keeps Quake fans coming back for more of the same, even though we know better.
So, LA's Delgado received a red card for two yellows against Miami their last game. No one game suspension for a red that was the result of two yellows??
LA’s goals were way too easy. We haven’t given up goals that easily since the Almeyda days. And in fact I don’t think we’ve had a lopsided home loss like that since the Almeyda days. I had a bit of PTSD. Reminds me especially of our season starts in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
Yeah my pregame comment was that we already struggled just against Puig. Now add there two new speedy winger big transfer guys. I knew it would be tough but hoped it might go better somehow.
