Keep Lopez and Espinoza, fire the rest of the players, front office staff, coaches, and owner into the sun
The final score is: 3 – 2 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G P.S. = Please don't post results of other soccer (including MLS) games and other sports' games in this thread until at least 24 hours after they've ended.
Niko gets on the score sheet finally - 1st goal or assist. Quakes win but also set MLS record for GA. Hernán on fire tonight.
Ebobisse knows this is the end for him I think. I feel sorry for him. It was a tell tale sign the way he's acting.
Ohh you never post that much so didn't know if you went or not. Did Ebobisse act like he was saying his final goodbyes and last will and testament?
Long interview with Hernán tonight. Surprise - he understands some English. If the question wasn't a Robert Jonas style meandering long soliloquy, he could pick it up, and he'd answer in Spanish rather than wait for the translation. He even answered a little in English when someone asked how much English he knows. He said he can speak a little but doesn't like to. A couple of times he said the team has had "mala suerte" - bad luck, this season. He says it's been an adjustment coming to a new country, new league, etc. but he's adjusting. Says the team is very unified despite all of the different cultures and has hung together even in all the rough times. Ian said that when Hernán plays simple he is one of the best attackers in the league, and called him a special player. About the emotion after Jebo's goal, he said it's been a rough season for Jebo with the injuries and other stuff going on - he didn't specify - maybe something about his family - or maybe nothing, I don't know. But most of the team converged around him after - Ian says he is well liked. The decision not to start Jebo tonight was apparently due to whatever fitness monitoring they were doing. They concluded he could only go 30 minutes. Jebo’s goal ironically started with another horrible outside of the foot pass by Niko. Not sure who he was even aiming was for. He sent it straight to a group of Dallas defenders on the other side of the center line. But after it was intercepted Niko went to challenge for it and the ball clanked off of Niko and fell straight to Jebo. Wilson played pretty OK - good passing. His long pass to Espinoza helped set up the 1st goal. But he was really at fault for both goals. More so the 2nd but on the 1st he didn't step up to Velasco and was kind of in no man’s land, somewhere between blocking the goal and actually defending the attacker. We really should have had our 2nd goal on that play early in the 1st half when Hernán nutmeged a guy and played Marie thru. Marie's 1st touch went boink and he couldn't quite get a clean shot on it. It bounced up to Skahan who promptly hit into the keeper's wheelhouse and it was blocked. Thankfully Dallas's attacking guys are still Arriola and Ferreira. They are both adept at blowing chances, especially Arriola. Ferreira's PK was pretty poor. Daniel guessed right but it was pretty close to his wheelhouse.
No, running like a headless chicken Rodrigues at all in the game and we win, coincidence? I know, I know our defense is horrible either way but can't help to think if Rodrigues was playing we would have giving up the tying goal or worse we would have lost.
Just saw the replay! Hernan's screamer from outside the box in the 13th minute was a thing of beauty. Pellegrino also had a nice assist on Lopez's second goal. Jebo’s give and go and ensuing goal was also pretty nice. Daniel's pk save was a work of art. It would have been nice to see the Quakes play like this all year... Anyway, I'm glad to see them get a win!
Ultras were actually very loud last night and kept it up the entire game in the heat. Non soccer corporate types sat behind us the entire first half, they spent the half talking about how they never watch soccer, its boring, around the 25th minute one guy asks which team is the Earthquakes and then in regards to the ultras why are those people standing and yelling , we finally just moved down a couple rows . Ran into Bouda and Benji at the chicken place across from the stadium, nice guys.
