Great play by Fierro to save the ball off the line--and his no-look assist to Cade wasn't bad either.
don’t want anyone feeling harassed but unless it was completely out of line, hopefully @Replikait made her (your) feelings known and that situation was squashed... if it was a regular here who wouldn’t take no for an answer, might be different but we’ve never had anything like this happen here - we’re (* I’m) usually wrapped up in the hopelessness of Fishball (until yesterday when young Cade Cowell demonstrated some of that potential everyone’s been hoping to see).
Until that point in the game, we were all kind of "yeah, he's super fast -- but does he have any game smarts?" Watching him get past three defenders and score was a transformational moment in our Cade fandom.
In terms of "game smarts" that pass to Espinoza was pretty good too. I think at this point we know that he's capable of the great play but he's not yet at the level of like every possession is impressive. Lots of unimpressive possessions and then an occasional great play. But for a 17-year old that is still phenomenal. I'm kind of using LD as my measuring stick. But LD was 19 when he started with the Quakes, not 17.
It really was although it was maybe 2.5 defenders since defender number three was not really in a position to challenge, either way, he has a lot to do after getting the ball and cleanly beats two. Great goal!
Cade also has a hard shot. That was pretty crappy goalkeeping but even with his left foot and a very quick delivery he had enough mustard on the shot to sneak it by. He can absolutely blast it with his right.
It's fine it was just persistence and a guy who had been drinking too much. I hung out with Khari and fam yesterday a little bit so that brightened the day more. We talked about Nick Lima, The roster and some other stuff. Cool dude.
I saw Khari alone in the concourse on his phone before the game, but did not know he was with his family. (Or did you mean you spent time with Khari and your own family)? He seems to attend a lot of games.
I got to meet Khari once after the Game at Oracle Park against Houston, and he was awesome. Really great, level headed guy.
Talked to Khari a few years ago. He was an ok player with a great long range shot. Too bad he came at an advanced age as I would have love to see him in his early or mid 20’s.
Yeah 29 but he came up with KC in 2004 at 22/23 I believe. He just turned 40 which is only two years older than Wondo. He told me they offered him another year or two contract but he said it wasn’t enough to live on so he retired. He played ok for a period then he seemed to fade.
And, Krazy George was there! Love that, such a local legend! Very cool that he wears his retro Quakes jersey.
Yeah, we saw him on tv (er, twitter feed) and we could hear the crowd doing the typical Krazy George chants. Feels good to see things going back to normal just a little bit.
Just getting time to chime in. I am glad we got the win but come-on FCD looked like junk and should have put in at least two easy goals. We got really lucky on this one but not really for our quality play. Cade was indeed MOTM JY seems to no longer wants to dribble forward or even pass forward much. It seems like every time he touches the ball he looking behind for the next pass and he almost is never dribbling into the open space in front of him to pull the defense closer.
I thought we were weak too. FCKD should have scored on us early, at least once, maybe two or three times. We got two (2) PKs off them, which shows how poor their defense is. JY and others having trouble finding passes was because our guys played very statically for the first 20 or 30 minutes. There weren’t a lot of open players to pass to. Same for JT trying to pass out of the back. His defenders were all marked, and none of them moved to create space. I’m pumped that we won, but had we been playing a better team we’d have gotten slaughtered. Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
