We played well until Luchi changed our shape and tactics. Then it a nose dive into the sewer.

I blame Luchi for this loss, 100%.

    Go Quakesfans!!

I didn't watch but reading the threads, it’s become such a sad state of affairs with the Quakes.

I think it's getting worse with each passing game...

It looked like Akapo had picked up a little knock, so that is why he came out.

Exactly! Our field was a damn disgrace last night, players slipping all over the place. Our pitch is just one more piece of the shit pie that is the Earthquakes organization.

    This is unacceptable.

We should have won this one. We were up, we were at home, we were playing reasonably well, then we changed what we were doing and crashed immediately.

    Luchi is a terrible coach.

    Go Quakesfans!!

Season is a disaster...correct me if I'm wrong but last two games we've given up hat tricks in the final 10-15 minutes to subs....unacceptable....This is all on Luchi...Hands down the worst coach in Quakes history....and that's bad considering we had Stahre!!

It's only happened 8 times in MLS history and it's happened in the last two Quakes games.

I think that had more to do with their subs than ours. They stopped forcing everything through one player up front and focused more on spreading the ball.

I think the first subs were Marie for Akapo and Skahan for Pelle. Akapo had asked to come out due to a knock (is he gonna go on the injury list now too?), and Skahan for Pellegrino is fine, Jack’s gonna be more of a nuisance on both sides of the ball. And these were like for like subs so we really didn’t change tactics at that point.

Then we went down a goal due to no particular fault of the subs and Luchi did change tactics late a bit to try to get a late goal. At that point you’re gambling and of course that can backfire and it did. If we didn’t go for it and still lost people would be complaining we only had 2 subs and didn’t go for it.

Watching the goals I think the root causes, the things we need to fix, are goalkeeping and ball watching. As for goalkeeping I’ve seen Jackson really stand on his head in Town games. Not always but he sometimes makes great reaction serves. At least he’s reacting! He’s a little short but he could maybe be a Jon Busch type of guy.

As for the ball watching it’s been a consistent problem for us, especially this year. It’s one thing if you get caught on an overload but another if you could mark somebody but you’re instead watching the ball. This should be fixable in theory if they talk about it and make sure they retain focus all game, especially late.

Jose Vasquez was the first guy in MLS history to come off the bench and score 3. Took him 8.5 minutes... against us in 1997. This is regular news for us... jk

    Yes.

And probably something stupid. The Ultras and their 3 songs throw more tantrums then anyone.

They claim they dont want preferential treatment but its exactly what they want.

Its chicken shit to not show up for a game when they all claim to be there and fight with the boys, but ditch out in "protest" against the front office because they want to be treated above the common fan for their support. Bunch of whiney shit bags in Ultras leadership.

I hope the team doesnt cave and they tell them f*ck off and a new group emerges from the ashes that has a WAY better connection to the common atmosphere and less bs.

There numbers are way down anyways.

    At least Gags was there.

You haven’t returned to the stadium since the FO failed to address an assault. How do you know this isn’t something similar?

Maybe not but I’d like to at least see a GK move their body in reaction to a shot. My bar is very very low at this point.

I know the Ultras’ side of it and I’m presently asking for the FO’s side.

In all fairness, I was plumb tuckered out after the Mingo's game and making dinner (succotash and chicken breasts) so I didn't watch the 9:30pm (CDT) game and went to bed around 10:15.

    Don't think I wanna watch.

What if Lietch fires Luchi and makes himself coach and GM? He can't blame anybody but himself if he can't make a silk purse out of the rest of our season. It's not like he has the budget to be GM'ing all over the place trying to make deals since his account for this season is tapped so he may as well make his ass useful...

Oh - and bench Yarborough. I've been saying it for weeks, and if a weak soccer mind like mine can grasp that strategic issue....

We've allowed 9 total goals in two back-to-back games.

    Our field is a disgrace.

We're on track for our worst season ever.

    Our coach is abysmal.

I just don't care anymore, thank you San Jose Earthquakes, for killing my joy for this team.

It’s worse than that, I believe.

Exactly half way through the season the Quakes are on track for 22 points in the standings and allowing 86 goals for the season. That is territory for arguably worst team in MLS history.

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sp...le-for-fc-cincinnati-at-san-jose/74108579007/ They see it, why can't we?

The grass was certainly a factor there: (53')
Pavel Bucha hammered San Jose for a failed attempt to play out of the back, netting his first goal for the Orange and Blue to put them up, 1-0, on the road. It's certainly relevant that Bucha was able to cleanly intercept the ball and stroll in on goal because a San Jose player slipped.
Something to keep an eye on:
    The grass:
Players on both teams seem to be having trouble finding consistent grip on the playing surface at PayPal Park. Numerous readers have messaged The Enquirer about how glaring and clear the problem has been tonight.

Factually I do not know, Evidently, just some slight research across social media you can find what people are saying who are or claim to be in the ultras, and its conclusively giving a very stupid answer.

However if it is sexual assault or something similar, and it took one of there own to have it happen for a large mass of people to do something, then f*ck them. When I was molested dude was a 'claimed' Ultra and even friends with them.

And if that's the case, I hope the Quakes do nothing as well. Equality all around.

yes, coaching is a problem, and (a) we don't have the players we need, and, (b) we didn't have the players we needed to start the season, and (c) we haven't had the players we needed since long before PayPal Park opened, and (d) we've had the same problem now over 8 coaches and 3 GM's.

So yes, we need a new coach...

    and yet, sadly for us...

I've never officially been an Ultra but traveled with them to LA on one memorable road trip and sat with them at other away games. I sent them membership dues every year and even mediated between Kaval and Dan back in the day. It seems like it's always something! More recently, which I reached out about getting tickets to an away game with them, no one responded so I figured I'd landed on Dan's shitlist and moved on.

I support all supporter groups but there's a prima donna attitude to the Ultras that's never made sense to me.

Well one positive last night was watching Hernán put a Cincinnati player on his butt - twice (probably different guys) a la Marvin Chavez in 2012. Slippery grass probably helped, but still…
