He got the ball first but it was cleats up and a yellow so he's out for the mexico trip, and yes it was a harsh yellow.

Yeah, that's a close call. Ref didn't do us any favors. I thought it was safe because he was so much earlier than the foe.

 

Considering the Toluca player was not really able to play the ball first, I would argue that Bernardez was unfairly carded there. The ref was a little loose with his definition of a challenge on that one.

 

Did we just get jobbed on the goal?

edit: never mind, we got raped.

 

The replay makes it clear the defender used his arm to kind of cup the ball there. We can safely determine that this referee is not good. I try not to bag on them too much, but man that's a poor job there.
