I think it's a stretch to say Innocent is "back". In fact, some would argue he wasn't really "here" yet.
Colorado Rapids acquire midfielder Jermaine Jones from New England Revolution Fortunately Jones will now begin serving his six game suspension from last year's playoffs, so the Quakes will avoid him, at least until their second and third games against Colorado. At that time the Rapids will likely have both Tim Howard and Jermaine Jones, in addition to current DPs Doyle and Gashi. If Jones has the kind of impact for the Rapids that he did for the Revs over the last two seasons, the west could get even tougher: (nah Pablo Mastroeni will still manage to screw it up somehow)
Be interesting to see how much money they gave New England, he is 34 years old and clearly not the force he was.
Fortunately for us that in NE he also had a good attacking players in Ngyuen(?) Davies and Agudelo. In Colorado....they pretty much cleaned house so it depends on how Dissastroenni manages them until they're stable. They lost to a USL team in the preseason didn't they?
The one preseason game I saw, Colorado looked horrendous. Mastroeni is a joke of a coach. They have no depth, with 6 roster spots unfilled going into today. And on a personal note they seem to be collecting guys I don't really care for (Cronin, Pappa, St Ledger, Burling, etc.)... But once they make these additions, they will have a few quality pieces in place: Howard in goal, Jones and Powers in central midfield, Doyle and Gashi as the forwards, maybe this year Pablo gives young guys like Serna and Hairston more of a chance... Gashi is 27 and won the golden boot the last two seasons in the Swiss League, so he could be an interesting addition to MLS. Howard may be struggling at Everton but you'd have to think he would immediately be one of the best goalkeepers in MLS (if not the best) alongside guys like Hamid and Ousted... We should beat them with no problems on Sunday, but the two games this fall could end up being tough.
Latest forecast is no rain during the game tomorrow and possibly even some sun. Showers in the morning and then partly cloudy for game.

from mlssoccer.com...injury list.... OUT: M Marc Pelosi (chronic tendinitis in left knee 2/19, out 3-4 months) - READ OUT: M Fatai Alashe (hernia injury) OUT: M Cordell Cato (right hamstring injury) OUT: D Jordan Stewart (right Achilles injury) QUESTIONABLE: D Andres Imperiale (left calf injury)
Nice defensive depth. Imperiale possibly can't go so....maybe one of the 12 attacking mids can play center back.
It seems like every year since 2012, the Quakes don't have CB depth, run into problems when injuries inevitably hit mid-season, and then they do the absolute bare minimum to address the issue in the offseason...
So Cronin is now cleared to play....something about a red card he sat erasing yellow card accumulation or some such.
Subtraction by addition If Mastroeni does something crazy like start Cronin over Powers that would be great...
Most likely our midfield will be something like: Gashi - Powers - Bbadji Cronin - Watts Unless Pappa can actually play, then Powers is scheduled drop back to Watts' spot with Pappa taking the center.
