PBP: San Jose Earthquakes - Chicago Fire (Saturday, 7/28) in-game thread [R]

No surprises in the lineup, unless you consider Zayner a at right back or Ramiro not ready a surprise.

5' Busch snares a dicey cross. Salinas pushes down the right but can't turn corner.

 

Never thought I'd say this but bless you Dan Dibley. Can Kozimor just stay in London?

 

6' Great ball from Baca in traffic out to Morrow, but cross cut out. Morrow parked up front. Zayner cross in the sun confuses Johnson, but his awkward touch not punished.
Wondo with the wicked right footed cross just evades sliding Gordon.

They have a new sub. Looks like a new signing from Honduras, but a little on the small side. I don't see how he can stand up to the physical nature of MLS.

 

8' DAwkins with the run down the middle, perfect ball to Wondo, blast right at Johnson!

 

So far Quakes bewildering Fire with all kinds of wierd attacking looks.

 

10' Now Dawkins makes a run without the ball behind the flat four but through ball just beyond him.

 

Wow, Baca is seriously looking to send passes forward.

 

11' Cronin gets an interception, but then turns it over in Quakes end. Morrow then slips (sounds familiar) and Fire get a deep throw. Gordon heads out, Dawkins tries to dribble out of danger but loses it. Fire with another deep throw. Nyarko skins Morrow but Jason with another desperate save.

 

14' Quakes in disarray as Nyarko barrells right down the center of the field but scrum collected by Busch.

 

I guess humor doesn't work when there are only two people in the thread.

 

16' Dawkins curler into box heading out for corner.
Salinas to take. Johnson one hands the grab with Gordon waiting.

 

17' Nyarko wide open on the diagonal from Alex, but Morrow sprints back to make sliding block.
After 10 minutes of dominance, Quakes getting punished for having numbers forward.

 

18' Dawkins barrelling down the middle fires over the bar.

 

Dan Dibley is the man.

 

19' Gargan has all kinds of space down the right, but cross cut out.

 

20' Dawkins launches Salinas, but Cronin cross doesn't reach strikers. Morrow to throw deep. Cleared.

 

21' Baca attacks, ripping Zayner cross to Dawkins!! Blasted volley great save!

 

22' Rolfe with nice curler over bar.
That Dawkins volley was a gem, great diving save.
