Re: San Jose Earthquakes - Chicago Fire (Saturday, 4/11) in-game/postgame thread [R] Subscribing early, just for that reason! Should be a good one, before I go work behind a bar at an Easter Sunday race meet somewhere across town today. And by the way, Happy Easter, everyone...
I thought I'd get a jump start on Goodsport here: -The field was too small -The goals were the crappy AYSO goals -The new stadium better have more than 15K seats (and a roof) -The game wasn't in HiDef! Now that I got that out of the way, let's see of GS can actually comment on the game
In the intro, the Telefutura guys informed us that Arturo Alvarez is by far the best player on the Quakes.
Smallish or not, Buck Shaw makes for great television! The field is pristeen and the stands look great...
yes, it was. great game. and BTW my chat is open. i wont plug it again today, but i'd love to see people in there
Awesome! Chicago came in thinking they could press us, but they are having all kinds of problems with our counterattacking. We're constantly getting behind their defense.
Quakes with the lead, despite all the ref's best efforts. The two possible penalties would have been soft, but that foul he gave them in front of our box was just ridiculous.
Must have been an intense week of practice as the guys look lively! I'm glad to see Huckerby get his run down the wing again!
Campos and Johnson are a huge frontline. Are they really that big, or is it just the smallish stadium? (Totally kidding...) They are a scary duo on crosses...
Is anyone else thinking that Chicago must not have watched any of our games to prepare for this match? Defensively they're playing this all wrong. They're playing a high defensive line, which is allowing Alvarez and Huckerby lots of space to run behind the defense, which is the kind of play that we thrive on. Plus they're pressing all the way up the pitch, which takes away their coverage of our deeper lying players, which gives us a better chance to win the long balls that have been the centerpiece of our attack this season. /Does it look like Campos has a boner to you guys?
Two things strike me right away, the official is letting chicago get away with thugish fouls and Compost is a big, awkward goof with the ball at his feet.
Goal Convey! beautiful run!!! Compos's composure on the ball is terrible, especially in front of goal, but he's been doing ok. If he wasn't slow and clumsy we'd be up 4-1
Goal chicago... The player was wide ********ing open, not a black shirt anywhere near him Can't hang that on Joe. PS: Goal Convey..About damn time.
