hard to believe this thread started over a decade ago and the Quakes are still trying to secure a plot of land on which to build an academy facility.

Diego Luna's team El Paso will play Gilbert Fuentes' Austin Bold tomorrow at 6pm. Could be an interesting contrast if they are on the field at the same time.

Luna's team smokes Austin Bold. Fuentes with his first start of the year but no end product up front. Casey Walls came on in the second half as left back (he's up field in this clip). That's a mistake to play Walls there. He's only comfortable in the middle.

Quakes should think about adding Luna with an off the books homegrown deal, especially if Chofis heads back to Mexico.

Couple of Quake academy alumni doing well their freshman season in college.

Aaron Edwards has started all games for UCLA with 2 goals and one assist in 1159 minutes. He is listed as a striker but it seems they have converted him to right back. He does have a similar athletic profile to Nick Lima. Maybe Leitch could use him to replace Abecasis?

Salvador Aguilar is a 6'2" striker for UCSB and has 5 goals in 19 games (9 starts).

did the fairgrounds (for the academy) talks break down? my wife and I were over there for our boosters today, looks like the space is just as massive, underutilized and available as it ever was, although the vax area was quite busy, as you'd expect.

Don't think they broke down, the county just takes forever to get anything accomplished.

I have been following the Santa Clara Finance and Government Operations Committee meetings posted on Youtube live. They schedule a meeting every month and this is where they discuss the Fairground's business. They had November's meeting scheduled for the 23rd but canceled last minute (too close to Thanksgiving?). Next meeting is December 20th I think. Should know more at that time.

I just heard a rumor that one of the best youth players for his age group in the country could be moving to the Silicon Valley area from another MLS academy. I will post if he ends up joining the academy. Still young but think Cade Cowell potential.

The agenda will probably be too big to postpone. Might be a rather long session.

I’m sure they dribbled all over the field, but didn’t take any shots. Plus, they must have slid a lot...their shorts were soiled. There must have been a lot crying to the refs.

Im excited to see this age group develop. Hopefully we start producing some solid pros, like the Union. That's the only way we're gonna be able to compete w/o spending the money.
