Woooo, great win by the Quakes. DeRo with a hat trick. That's awesome. Even the attendance was in the 12,000's. GREAT game for San Jose.
Hopefully some of you got to see what you wanted to see all season from the Ultras' tonight.. Great game. The bicycle that DeRo almost hit.... Wow.. Im still shocked, pissed off, and extremely happy. Not much I can say right now.
The final score is:            5       2       You can read a recap of the game here.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
After 7 1/2 seasons of no hat-tricks by San Jose, the team gets two in as many weeks (this time by Dwayne DeRosario)!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I thought the crowd was awesome tonight. I dragged my dad and sister to the game and it was well worth it. Hadn't had the chance to see any other games this year as i was in eng-er-land and then in summer school...so it was a great night to go to my first San Jose game in over a year! You think we won any new fans with that performance tonight!!
Who gets the hat trick next week? This is starting to get habit forming. Fun to watch a game for all of 0:11 and already do a goal celebration. Quick throw-in over the defense by an alert Dunivant set that baby up. The first 60 minutes were fabulous. They got sloppy after that.
Kinda makes you anxious to see what these two do next week on ESPN 2....Landon and DeRo hitting form at the same time spells imminent danger to the rest of the teams in the league... If Landon scores 15 or more goals this season I doubt anyone will really challenge him for POY honours, especially since he's scored 12 in only 17 matches this season! I can almost smell the fresh cut grass for MLS Cup 2003!
good job exploiting our incredibly crappy D. I thought we'd make a game of it with the 2 equalizers but I was wrong. Good luck in the offseason, I'll be rooting for ya'll now that we're officially out. With your speed and touch theres no reason you shouldn't win the MLS cup this season.
San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] The picture on the main page of MLSNet right now is priceless...love DeRo's face. It's exactly how I feel.
San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] What is the record for highest points in a season ? Anyone know ?
Onstad Blunder - OK, I'm really trying to like this keeper. However, the last two goals against us have been absolute gaffs. He plays a 50/50 game. It seems he can only block shots at point blank range. The 2nd goal was frickin ridiculous. What gives ?
On 2nd goal, it seems like Onstad was surprised by how slow it was. He dove right away and the ball slowly rolled passed him while he was on the ground.

Re: Onstad Blunder - I think that everyone who sat near me can vouch that I said this, but when Spartacus made the announcement at the beginning of the game about how well Onstad was doing, the props for goalkeeper of the week, or whatever it was, I just started yelling, "You're going to jinx him." And maybe it's self-fulfilling prophecy, but that's the way I felt. Sorry, Spart, I know you had to make that announcement, but there are just some things I am superstitious about. BTW, Spartacus also made the announcement at the end of the game that Dwayne's first goal was the fastest in any MLS game ever (thus setting an MLS record) and that the number of points he had in the game were also the MLS record for points in a single game.
Re: San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] Well, that depends on whether you go strictly by points, or by points per game (since the '01 season was shortened, and the '02 season only had 28 games. Here's the run-down: 1996 Tampa Bay; 20-12, 58 pts., 1.81 ppg. 1997 D.C.; 21-11, 55 pts., 1.72 ppg. 1998 L.A. Galacto-pukes; 24-8, 68 pts, 2.125 ppg. 1999 D.C.; 23-9, 57 pts., 1.78 ppg 2000 K.C./Chi; 17-9-6/16-7-9, 57 pts., 1.78 ppg. 2001 Mia/Chi; 16-5-5/16-6-5, 53 pts., 2.04 ppg. 2002 L.A.; 16-9-3, 51 pts., 1.82 ppg 2003 Quakes to date: 14-5-7, 49 pts., 1.88 ppg. So, painful though it is, the Galacto-pukes have the best regular season record, points-wise, in MLS history. (Of course, we still won a Cup before they did. )
What an entertaining game! That was the most fun first half I've had the pleasure to watch. Those of you who got to go to the game, you got a treat. The Quakes certainly know how to entertain. They were so fast it was unbelievable. Nice to see DeRo and Donovan coming together, and at a great time in the season. Just one little regret though. Wish DeRo wouldn't have tried that bicycle; all he had to do was nod the ball to Donovan, who would have had a chance then to get another hat trick...and the Quakes would have probably set another record - two players getting hat tricks in the same game!
Great football!! Fun to watch!! I don't think Onstad should really take the heat for the two goals...both should have been the centre backs ball...but I ain't gonna complain about anything after that!! Oh yeah...where's LA?...outta our rear view mirror and outta sight!!! -Richard
San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] This was a fantastic game and I just loved "Spartacus's" comment at the end of the match about needing to come back to see the Earthquakes at their next home match next weekend. When I looked around after the announcement I could even see people nodding their heads. Great job to all the Quakes and especially the Dynamic Duo!!
San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] Oh and to make the weekend just a bit sweeter the So Cal wannabees lost to the "Last time you won was when?" Wizards. Oh yeah I think it is time to schedule the 4 games in a row against the demons from below. I think we should win the first game on just one goal where we are offsides by at least 2 or 3 yards but no call is made.
Re: San Jose - Dallas (Saturday, 9/27) postgame thread [R] There's a jinx if I've ever heard one. Calling Mr. Ruiz ...
