San Jose - Columbus (Saturday, 6/21) pregame thread

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp San Jose smash pesky yellow intruders to dust in small stadium?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Columbus steal points from angry blue giants on puny field?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp 'Quakes mash banana-clad brutes to paste and throw paste far away? 'Ew daze home guys and go away in one piece with win?

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Discuss.

You've gotta be KIDDING me! We haven't disposed of the WaterStealers yet, Goodsie!

This, I believe, is jumping the gun. I'll hold my comments until we've properly reached this juncture in the schedule.

DON'T WANT TO "LOOK PAST" THE GALAXATIVES!!!

I have to agree Vic, too much, too soon. After the Galaxatives match is the time for thinking about Columbus.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Thank you... I normally do wait a day or so after a game to post the next pregame thread, but these games being so close together makes that more difficult to do.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Since this game will only be televised on HDNet (just like Wednesday's game in LA), is another trip to Ricky's in order? ;)

Just go to the game goodsy! This is the best time to be taking on Columbus, they're missing four players to the ConFed cup in france and i think Buddle is still out with injuries. Our side is beat up but they've been playing well against the crew this year and this could be a great chance to pick up three points. Ekelund in the middle instead of Corrales and a healthy Mulrooney will leave us controlling the midfield and in charge of the match.

Goodsie, what's up? Did you have your eye on one of those waitresses? You could ask her to come to Spartan with you.:)

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I suppose that you're right.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I'll go to the match, although I'll be missing a chance to see another Earthquakes game in high definition. :(

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp How will my being at Spartan Stadium help the attendance situation there? :(

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Well, now that you mention it...

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I would seriously consider it, except that she most likely has a 300-pound boyfriend named Bubba. :(

Just as long as she doesn't have a 300-pound boyfriend named "Raider."

The high definition is even BETTER when you are there live!!!! The players actually look three-dimensional.

    (Hope to see you there!)

Probably more like a 125 pound, gaptoothed, methed-up boyfriend named "Raider Fan."

    ;)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Although I doubt that my chances with her would be better if she had a 300-pound boyfriend named "49er". :(

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Yeah, but Ricky's has two high definition screens - how many does Spartan Stadium have? ;)

So a little more to the point of this thread, what are people's take on lineups for tomorrow night's matchup?

here is the MLS injury status page... note this is dated on 6/18 so it was before our matchup with LA.

OUT: D Troy Dayak (sports hernia/L knee surgery), F Dwayne De Rosario (R Torn LCL), F Roger Levesque (R torn ACL); DOUBTFUL: F Brian Ching (R hamstring strain), D Eddie Robinson (R hamstring strain); QUESTIONABLE: M Ramiro Corrales (R ankle sprain); PROBABLE: M Ronnie Ekelund (R ankle surgery), M Chris Ronér (R knee sprain)

So here is my guess at Saturday's lineup:
    Onstad
    Ronér Waible Agoos Duinvant
    Mullan Ekelund Mulrooney Alvarez
    Walker Lagoos

(Personally I would much prefer putting Alvarez up front instead of Lagoos as he has been very ineffective the last few weeks).

Available Subs: Brian Ching, Ramiro Corrales & Conway.

No. Hand-of-Bob gets a red card. (You can do that to an assistant coach can't you?)

Good point, I knew I was forgetting someone. :) So here it is with Russell

    Onstad
    Ronér Waible Agoos Duinvant
    Russell Ekelund Mulrooney Alvarez
    Mullan Walker

(Manny now is a sub. :)

    I wish...
But we'll likely see Lagos struggling at the forward position for at least 70 minutes before Walker gets his chance again.

The one thing I worry about is whether Ronnie Ekelund is fit enough to start. Maybe put Mannie in there for the first half and then sub him out and put Ekelund in.
I agree with Alexi (and Jaguar), don't sub Walker in at the 70th minute, start him up front.
