"A's find new TV home" While not about the Earthquakes per se, Comcast SportsNet California's move on the Bay Area Comcast channel lineup from 400 to 89 should certainly expand viewership and availability of CSN California Quakes games for Bay Area Comcast viewers (I don't know what the CSN California HD channel designation will be on Comcast, but the station's SD and HD channel designations on DirecTV will remain 698 and 698-1, respectively). Also, the introduction this April of SportsNet Central and Chronicle Live should give Earthquakes games more exposure as well. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I'm confused. Were the Quakes on CSNCA or CSNBA last year? Or both? There's a press release on the Comcast SportsNet website about the A's move to CSNCA, and one paragraph has the following: So maybe the Quakes are moving to CSNCA. (Which, in practical terms, shouldn't mean too much to viewers; most Comcast franchises in the Bay Area get both, as do DirecTV and Dish Network subscribers. If they're making CSNCA a less Sacramento-oriented station, which the A's move would seem to indicate, that means more timeslots available for Quakes games. And hopefully we'll start to see some locally-produced Quakes games in HD!

CSN California's move from Comcast channel 400 to channel 89 in the Bay Area is also significant as it's seemingly moving from a more specialized digital tier that costs extra to the same programming tier as CSN Bay Area. Thus, more Comcast subscribers who for whatever reason don't/won't subscribe to the digital tier will now be able to watch games on that channel anyway. Also, the article indicates that CSN California will have an HD equivalent on Comcast as CSN Bay Area has already had for a while (if CSN California on Comcast doesn't already... I lost track as I switched to DirecTV last May). CSN California HD was already added to the DirecTV lineup a little while ago. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
This fact is also bearing out in two other ways: The CSN Bay Area link and the CSN California link at the main Comcast SportsNet site both now lead to the CSN Bay Area site. The CSN Bay Area site's main graphic banner now includes the wordmarks for both channels and includes the Sacramento Kings logo among the CSN Bay Area mainstays. This bodes extremely well not only for the aforementioned Bay Area Comcast subscribers, but also for the DirecTV subscribers who were having problems watching Earthquakes games on then-CSN West.
