Nineteen year old University of San Francisco attacker Conor William Chinn has impressed Haarleem of the Dutch Juliper League (2nd division) and thus had his trial extended. I know nothing of this player but I find it interesting and something worth keeping an eye on. Any info on Chinn would be helpful.

    HOLY CRAP!

Now just to bring us back to reality. Its going to be mighty hard for Chinn to get a gig in Holland, but hot damn!

I'm going to get a Starkick for all my nephews!

If this was England, he could just show the WP appeals board that video and he'd get a special talent acception for sure!

I thought Bruce was joking when he wrote this (in fact, he may have been!). Then I read Sandon's post.

I'm...speechless. There is literally no speech for this.

Jez, I never put two and two together. I'm an idiot. I remember all the rage. Too funny! If that device can get a kid a break, I'm gonna buy one for each player I coach! Ha ha ha :D

Ah, the "nationally ranked" Conor ... that's where the line is from ... I'd saw it mentioned here occasionally but had no idea what it referred to ... the "hot soccer mom", the kid chasing ball under an SUV, the kid himself ...

BTW, that rope thing is wrong for the things they think it is helpful for.

Ah yes. Starkick. I pretty much fell out of my chair laughing when I first saw that all those years ago (wow has time flown by). Still brings a tear to my eye.

From Connor "nationally ranked" (with his super uncomfortable voice) to the soccer mom to the kid running in the street to the goalie diving underneath the ball to the ridiculously cheesy gameshow voice this has to seriously be one of the best commercials of all time.

FSC has made a nice reputation for having some of the greatest commercials in history (I love the JG Wentworth ones and many of the others) but without a doubt Starkick is the best.

And that is a good point that if you really kicked the ball hard it would probably come back and hit you in the balls. I guess I never really thought about it that much because I assumed no one would actually buy it.

Can you imagine seeing some idiot kid with idiot parents who bought their kid this contraption, and the kid is trying to dribble the ball in the yard and is just tripping over the stupid cord while the parents smile that empty dumb smile that idiot parents have when they think they've done something good but in fact they are just making it worse?

Have you seen the one Taylor Twellman does these days on FSC? Those give StarKick (and Fred McGriff) a run for its money.

. . .hm, wonder if Taylor is nationally ranked?

On a serious note, does anyone know how Chinn landed a trial in the Junipler league?

Saw him play youth ball for the Nomads and he is quite the player.
He has pretty good technique and positions himself quite well.
He could use some work on his speed.
Hes not SLOW but he's not the fastest forward out there..

(Maybe if he didnt have Starkick and he actually had to chase his ball... it would have done his speed some good :D )
