"Quakes, Galaxy go at it again"       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Am I the only thinskinned poster here? Every frikkin time I read an article re: MLS or the Quakes it always seems to be interspersed with something about the women's league/teams. USA today even had an article today about womens soccer, but nada about men's. Yet when I read about the NBA I don't have to sift through WNBA stuff. End of tirade. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
So, after I read this post, I ran over to the Chronicle, opened it, and read the column. The women's stuff is after the Quakes update, not interspersed with it. If the NBA was a fringe sport (in America) like soccer, and if the WNBA played at the same time as the NBA, you might see some generic basketball column with men's and women's (and international) updates. I guess I see it as a positive that this game got coverage, free advertising and a reminder about tomorrow. The ******' Merc couldn't be bothered.
This is huge improvement over years past, when game coverage wasn't until the day of the game. I was bitchin' about this aspect of the coverage all last year. For the article to do any good, it has to be a day or two before the match: casual fans can actually consider the possibility of attending or watching the game. Can you imagine if the 49er weekly coverage started on Sunday morning? We should write the Chron with our appreciation. Maybe next week we'll get something a little more in-depth.
That is pretty bad that the Merc doesn't advertise tomorrows game. The upside is that Conway will probably be back soon.
The article mentions a crowd in the "10,000 range". Is that what's seriously expected? I was hoping they might at least push 12,000.
Optimist. It looks like they're pushing the "10,000" part to make it look like we're expecting a legit crowd. Given the weather concerns and that it's an early-season fixture we'll be lucky to make 10K. I don't think we'll get the massive surprise walk-up that we got last September.
