So it's officially over. On the one hand, i'm quite happy, as it means a great new player and a striking talent has been added to the team (how ironic, the year Lucho hangs up his boots, a new Enrique comes along!). On the other hand, I thought it was made quite clear by Tixi or Soriano that "our offer will not be raised by even 1 Euro"....hmmm, the final agreement is reported to be between 24 and 27 mil. If the initial offer was 22, that's 2 to 5 million times more than 1 Euro!! I think for Madrid, it was the only way to save face, and we helped them save face by accepting to raise the offer.

Rumours are saying somewhere between 25-27...but the rumours are also suggesting it will be evenly split between Madrid and Mallorca, so Mallorca makes out well too.

So it's 24 million according to Sport. 24 mil would be very good.

These aren't rumors, the two teams owned him evenly. They'll each pocket 50%.

So have we signed him, ole! Uefa.com reports about 24 million €, this is a solid price. Could be lower but I will not complain. I am glad at the end that we sign him. I hope he is wort it.

What do you think what will happen now with Saviola? I hope he stays here...

That smile makes me look forward to this season even more, though I prefer his quote from EMD: "I'm Free".

We are stocked with extremely talented players that are all dying to don la blaugrana.

With the signing of Eto'o, what does it mean for other non-EU players on the Barca squad. Who are the current non-EU players? Off the top of my head, I can think of Rustu (Turkey), Saviola (Argentina), Ronaldinho (Brazil) and now Eto'o (Cameroon). My understanding was Saviola is probably gone (I've read of rumors of Monaco pursuing him) unless he restructures his contract (like Puyol did) and somehow get EU citizenship. I thought I saw something about him being pretty close to getting Spanish citizenship. Just wondering.
