Samp played a decent game vs Palermo and did well to earn a point. But Del Neri really has to look into buying a decent defender.
Other than that, every position is pretty much solid.

Our defence is too weak, that's for sure!

Drew 1-1 against Catania at home and we have Udinese next. The team has been out of form for a while and Pazzini only scored from a penalty.

The game against Udinese can go either way. De Biasi is a crap coach for Udinese but Di Natale is still good for them. We could beat Catania at home, a club that can't get points away. Hopefully that penalty last week can help Pazzini back to scoring in a regular manner.

Rumors flying that Cassano is being loaned to Fiorentina for the rest of the season. He's lucky that he'll get to play under a real coach, but I fricking hate that club so it will be hard to root for him there.

Hiring Del Neri was one of the worst decisions I can think of in recent Samp history. With the personnel they had Zaccheroni would have been a much better choice. And of course after the coup of landing Cassano and then Pazzo, the transfer policy has absolutely gone to the pit of hell, leaving a crap squad.

Del Neri is too attached to his system. He plays a rigid 4-4-2 with an emphasis on hard work and wing play (sounds English). At Atalanta, he still had to build a team around Doni. Now if Cassano goes, Del Neri will stick to his way of playing and he can fit any player he wants in it. Cassano likes to drift.

Cassano started off well but he has been out of form for two or three months. The team relied too much on his creativity. If he goes, Pozzi will play more and the wingers will be able to do more with the ball.

The Udinese game showed that we can win without Cassano. It's a different matter when one considers if the team can do it consistently.

Although there is still time, Atalanta seemed to have done a lot better last year finishing 11th....this season its another story....whatever Del Neri did at Bergamo, worked.

Typical Cassano, he used his heart instead of his head to make the decision.
It's good for Samp but bad for Cassano, unless, hopefully this means Del Neri's days are numbered.

Cassano seems to be staying but we have won the last two games without him, the latest being a 2-0 win against Atalanta. Palombo scored a great goal from distance and Pazzini got one with a header. Del Neri has got results and for Cassano, his chances of getting back into the team don't look good unless Sampdoria stumble. At the moment, Sampdoria has a rather weak draw in recent weeks.

Looking back at it, Del Neri shouldn't have been employed due to his past history with Cassano. Cassano isn't a system player and as I've stated before, Del Neri has a set way of playing. What we are seeing now are the long-term affects. Both of them can't really co-exist at Sampdoria.

I'm not sure about the hernia but Del Neri would still have him dropped anyway. Four consecutive wins without Cassano now so it's not like the team is missing him. Semioli and Guberti are good on the wings. The rest of the team could have passed to Guberti more often though. He is an excellent winger. Pazzini scored the second but his other touches were poor. He should have got a brace or a hat-trick.

You think the hernia is just an excuse to not play him?

I think so. IMO, Del Neri doesn't want to play him and Sampdoria have got wins since he has been dropped. In Cassano's defence, the draw Sampdoria has got now isn't too hard. The run home will be harder so one wonders of Sampdoria can maintain this form after the Juve game in a few weeks. IMO, the 5-1 loss against Juve triggered the loss in form. Inter at the San Siro is next so it will be interesting to see if Sampdoria's run will end, which is very likely.

Against pretty much the four worst teams in Serie A by recent form.

True. That's why I pointed out in my last post that the draw will get harder and that's when we will really see if Sampdoria can last without Cassano.

He was meant to go on loan at the end of January but it didn't take place.

Maybe an artist of football, skills :D Cassano needs to get things straight. He's easily Italy's most talented player, but he doesn't have the right mentality.

That's why he will never reach his full potential, sadly. Some Italian #10s delt with cowardly coaches but the fact that he can't the team at times shows that he hurts his own chances.

0-0 against Inter. Pazzini was sent-off and Inter went down to 9 men.

A very rough game and for Sampdoria, it was two points lost. The team looked predictable in attack, using the wings frequently and Inter cleared every ball. Sampdoria should have went down the middle more regularly because there was plenty of space and all Sampdoria needed to do was take low shots from distance.

Another thing about this result is that Cassano's invention will be needed. If he didn't have his head up his arse and he could play against the big teams, he would have won the game for us against Inter. Del Neri's system will become too predictable but Cassano will have to be a man and not be selfish. What a wasted talent!

Sampdoria's recent unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt as Parma eased to victory in Suday's Serie A encounter at Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Parma went into the game having taken just two points from the last 27 available but succeeded in turning the form book on its head thanks to Cristian Zaccardo's second-half winner.

With Samp missing attack trio Giampaolo Pazzini, Nicola Pozzi and Antonio Cassano, coach Luigi Del Neri handed a Serie A debut to Stefan Scepovic, but the youngster failed to mark the occasion with a goal as the visitors slipped to a first loss in seven.

Parma enjoyed the best of a largely disappointing first half, with Jonathan Biabiany threatening with a run inside the first 10 minutes that was ended by a timely interception by Stefano Lucchini.

Daniele Mannini had Samp's only clear chance of the opening 45 when his right-footed effort drew a comfortable save from Antonio Mirante.

Parma suffered a blow when experienced striker Hernan Crespo was forced off with 11 minutes of the first half remaining, but his replacement, Valeri Bojinov, looked up for the fight and within two minutes forced a save from Marco Storari after a sharp turn and shot.

Massimo Paci had Parma's final chance of the half when he headed goalwards from a corner but Storari held on.

The hosts took the lead after 54 minutes with the first meaningful attack of the second period.

Zaccardo timed his run to perfection to latch onto Paolo Dellafiore's through ball before taking a touch to bring the ball under control and firing left-footed beyond the helpless Storari.

Samp redoubled their efforts after falling behind and were perhaps unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty when Mannini went down under the challenge of Daniele Galloppa inside the area.

The referee seemed to award a penalty kick but appeared to change his mind and instead booked Mannini for simulation.

Del Neri's men continued to surge forward in search of the equaliser and Andrea Poli went close after 68 minutes when he fired in a volleyed effort from the edge of the area which Mirante watched go wide.

Angelo Palombo picked the ball up 16 minutes from time and hit an effort that sailed narrowly over the bar as Samp's last real chance to take a point from the game slipped away.

Parma shut up shop successfully in the final 10 minutes as Samp ran out of steam, and the hosts might even have extended their lead before the final whistle.

Galloppa latched onto the ball just outside the area and spied Storari off his line but the midfielder's attempted lob was lacking in direction and the ball sailed over the bar.
