I've been watching this game sporadically.

Sammy Ochoa & Miguel Ponce start for their respective teams

2-0 for Chivas in the 75th minute, one of the goals is scored by KC Wizards bound Omar Bravo.

Apparently Ochoa got subbed off in the 72nd minute(just goes to show how sporadic I'm watching this game)

Ponce has been solid every time I watch. :)

76' : Chivas could have made it 3-0 but instead of passing to the open guy on a 2 vs GK, the Chivas player tries to round the keeper and fails.

I'm jumping on the Ponce bandwagon, he may be the best American left-back, excellent cross field pass that help open up the defence and leads to another goal for Chivas.

    3-0 FT. Chivas wins.

He is the best American left back. Watch an interesting tug-of-war ensue here.

    Tug-of-war will go like this....

Chivas: Do you like getting paid?

    Ponce: Yes.

Chivas: Drop the rope, play for Mexcio.

Ponce: But with the US I have a chance to start; with Mexico I'm likely a bench player.

Chivas: Didn't you just say you like getting paid?

    Ponce drops rope, ends tug-of-war.

Unless some MLS makes a good offer and buys him from Chivas which will probably require making him a DP.

That's one way to fix it, but it's not going to happen

"You can worry about what they are going to do to you, or let them worry about what you are going to do to them". Words to live by.

    Maybe.

Or Ponce forces the issue and accepts a US call up on an International date, in which Chivas has no say. Chivas threatens to "not pay" him, which even in Mexico is illegal. Or, they cut him from the squad, in which case Ponce easily finds alternative employment, either in Mexico or in the US, if not elsewhere.

Playing for the US could open up opportunities for Ponce. While Chivas can threaten and even follow through on penalizing him for it, in the end they may only damage themselves more.
