Seattle Sounders were eliminated from the MLS Playoffs, losing in penalties against Real Salt Lake. Alex Roldan came on at the 81st minute, while Justin Portillo did not play. RSL didn’t even make a single shot. Comunicaciones won 1-0 in the first leg of the CONCACAF League. USL Champion!!!! Eric Calvillo started and played the entire match in Orange County SC's 3-1 victory in the USL Championship final. Calvillo pressured the opposition defence to blunder and give away the first goal. Later, he provided an assist on the second goal. Houston Dynamo has extended Darwin Ceren's contract, and will be a part of the 2022 roster along with homegrown player Daniel Rios. It sounds like Hartford Athletic has not extended Walmer Martinez's contract, and he will move on. For now, it is unknown which club he will join next. Eriq Zavaleta is still waiting for Toronto FC to decide whether to extend his contract or move him on.
I think Eriq might be done with TFC they waited till close to the season starting before resigning him and as the season went on he was essentially benched, the injury probably speed up setting his replacement at the CB position.
Comunicaciones defeated Guastatoya 2-1 in the CONCACAF League semi-final and will play either Forge FC or Motagua in the final. As it turns out, TFC have officially let Eriq Zavaleta go. Hopefully he remains in MLS. Tomas Romero survived the cull and is currently the sole LAFC goalkeeper.
North Carolina FC has also re-signed Nelson Flores Blanco 🚨SIGNING NEWS🚨Nelson Flores Blanco and Luis Arriaga have re-signed with NCFC for the 2022 season!📰: https://t.co/t6KulpBkH9 pic.twitter.com/p34XMC7Cjk— North Carolina FC 🏆 (@NorthCarolinaFC) December 1, 2021
Think both Zavaleta and Romero become LAFC starters. The CBS for LAFC have been disappointing, and Zavaleta was an above average MLS CB.
Seems like Darwin's rep. has connections with Houston Dynamo. https://www.prosoccerplayer.com/our-team https://www.transfermarkt.us/darwin-ceren/profil/spieler/229330
In more surprising news. San Jose Earthquakes has renewed Gilbert Fuentes' contract for 2022 (despite minimal game time with Austin Bold), while releasing Eric Calvillo despite having just won the USL Championship and getting consistent minutes with Orange County SC. Earthquakes Announce Roster Moves Ahead of 2022 MLS Season
Man maybe Calvillo should bet on himself and try abroad. He’s better trained than when Oscar tried it that’s for sure.
Stay tuned regarding Alex Roldan, who is currently out of contract with Seattle Sounders. They have extended him a "bonafide offer" to remain with the club, but nothing is apparently stopping him from signing with a foreign team for free. Negotations about him remaining with Sounders in 2022 are ongoing.
Are these people related to THAT clavijo of the dynamo? If so that definitely means he’ll stick around for a good bit for sure. ones a SJE product, the other isn’t. Sadly it really is a lot about connections here in the states.
Justin Portillo has been let go by Real Salt Lake. Thank you to Justin Portillo, Noah Powder, Ashtone Morgan, Milan Iloski, Douglas Martinez, Tate Schmitt and Jeizon Ramirez for their contributions to the club.We wish them the best in the future. pic.twitter.com/Fm4wLntSrP— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) December 6, 2021 Alex Roldan’s future with Seattle Sounders still remains a mystery.
Marlon Vargas is the only one playing professional football out of these 3. The two Aussies, while young, play at semi-pro level. Jacob Maniti is currently tied to Philippines U-23.
Oh they're not part of the Melbourne Victory of the Australian 1st division? I thought maybe they were reserve or youth players of that club.
No, not anymore. Josh Urbina is with Dandenong City SC, and Jacob Maniti is with Macarthur FC academy (before that, he was with Blacktown City FC). We have yet to have a Salvadoran play for an A-League senior side.
I don’t bother with rumours unless it came from Pajaro Picon. According to him, Jairo Henriquez and Eriq Zavaleta are both in talks with LA Galaxy, while Bryan Tamacas and Ronald Rodriguez are both seeking a club in USA. German Giammattei of Amherst College was selected as NCAA Division III’s 2021 National Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
