BhoysFC1995 started a press conference thread on the SLC board, but I thought we could use one here as well.

I case you don't know, there's live video of the press conference at MLSNet.

Here's a direct link to the video stream.

And I've set up AIM chat as well. That info is below.

There's Dave Checketts, out for another opportunity to drive a professional sports team into the ground.

Let's get the audio working on this thing already.

Looks like the name may be Seagulls from the two scarves on the podium (can't see for sure though)

Team is unnamed (team name will not have two ZZ's in it).

Location for the Goats will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Soccer stadium HAS to be built. No real plans mentioned.

Checketts: "We will need to build a soccer stadium in Salt Lake City. I don't know how, I don't know where, but we will build a stadium."

Does that scare anyone else? Oh, we'll get around to that stadium thing.....

The comment about the best players in the world was foolish. Luckily Graber recoginized that "slip of the tongue" and corrected it during his speech.

Was it? Along with MLS expansion comes national team qualifiers and friendlies. He's enthusiastic. Big whoop.

Love Communications helping them with branding.

    A little cutesy in their self-promotion ... I'm skeptical ...

yes claiming that people in Utah will be seeing the best soccer players in the world was foolish, which was why Garber quickly corrected that mistake.

I agree - just found that - digging a little deeper, doesn't look quite so bad.
