I'm not that big a follower of women's football. Just a follower of the ranking system used in the women's game that Lusankya introduced me to.

Since this tournament is in my part of the world, thought I'd make a thread here for the same:

The inaugural South Asian Football Federation Championship for women

The tournament begins on the 12th of December.

    The groups are:

    Group A
    Bangladesh
    India
    Sri Lanka
    Bhutan

    Group B
    Afghanistan
    Nepal
    Maldives
    Pakistan

The tournament will be held at Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh

im really curious about this tournament considering the amount of new teams debuting as well as several teams competing in their first major tournament.

There will be 2 teams debuting only (Afghanistan and Bhutan). All the other teams have played in tournaments before (South Asian Games, ASEAN Championship (Maldives)).

Bhutan played their first ever match yesterday (06.12) losing 7-0 in a friendly match to Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Afghanistan will make their debut on 14th December against Nepal.

Many of the members of the Afghanistan team are US residents. Many of them play for their respective schools and colleges. Yesterday, in a pre tournament friendly, Afghanistan beat Bhutan 6-0.

According to these articles, Afghanistan is expected to reach Bangladesh today (9th December). Where did you hear of the friendly match with Bhutan?

Bhutan arrived on 5th December, Maldives arrived on 8th December, and all other teams are expected today.

On 6th December, Bangladesh beat Bhutan 7-0 in a pre-tournament friendly, but I couldn't find news of this Afghanistan v Bhutan match.

"A nine-member partial Afghanistan team arrived in the capital Friday (11th December) morning while the remaining 21 members of the team were due to reach here in the evening."

Don't know who told you that Afghanistan beat Bhutan 6-0, but it is impossible as Afghanistan only arrived today and Bhutan have been in Bangladesh since 5th December.

Bangladesh v Sri Lanka and India v Bhutan tomorrow.

I think Bangladesh v Sri Lanka will be close, but I feel for Bhutan - I think India might well score 10 goals or more.

This is in Bengali script - which I can only get to display properly on Internet Explorer. The words শ্রীলঙ্কা (Sri Lanka) and ভুটান (Bhutan) are in the headline, as well as the result (I presume) - ১-১ (1-1)

I can find no Bengali page translation online, so I am guessing the result was Bhutan 1-1 Sri Lanka, which is an unexpectedly good result for Bhutan.

    Nepal 12-0 Pakistan

    Semis will be:
    20.12 India v Pakistan
    21.12 Bangladesh v Nepal

The first semi-final could be embarrassing for Pakistan.
