Saviola seems to be very unsettled at Barca right now. He's proven talent; he's shown he can consitently score in La Liga. He's scored 11 this year. He scored 20 in 36 games last year. And 21 in 35 the year previous.

I'd love to see SAF bring him in over the summer.

Saviola is great... G R E A T... I would have said yes to this before we bought Saha, but unless we play a 3 striker formation or sell Saha, buying Saviola would be pointless... also, Barca will not sell him... maybe if we had an agreement earlier... but since Kluivert has hit the bench and Barca have gone on a tear, he has been playing, and playing well.. He might prove to be an excellent foil for Ruud, and add his skills to CR7 and we will have 2 great dribblers... however we need to splash down 20 million on the next Roy Keane... not another striker.. we could spend 10 million for a young back up type who will replace Ruud when that time comes 5 years down the road, but not as much as it would take to get Saviola... a better bet from Barca would be Puyol... he wont be sold either, but he would instantly supplant Gary Neville and would sure up our defense...

Don't be so sure about Barca not selling him. We currently have 3 non EU players in the line up(Saviola, Ronaldinho, and Marquez). Next year, the player restrictions will cut that to two. Right now, Saviola looks like the one to go. It's a shame for us, I'm sure Saviola will be a godsend for who ever he ends up with.

On Puyol, Barca will never sell him. Well, not without the team going bankrupt first. Puyol is Barcelona.

    Re: Saviola

You don't think Barca will sell Marquez? I remember some talk of him having some trouble settling and/or playing well at the Nou Camp.. was this just random chatter I picked up, or was it in the beginning only and he is doing well now?

    thanks

    Re: Re: Saviola

No, it was true. Marquez was having a hard time adjusting to the spanish game early in the season(playing in front of that Nou Camp crowd doesn't make it easier). He's been able to adjust now and is showing great skill in back. He's young too. Rumors are that Milan want him to carry on the torch for Maldini, but we're not selling.

Alright then Greddy, thanks for the info. I think Saviola would be great, but definatelly unneeded really at the momment. We need to bring in Trabelsi, van Buyten, any good defender before we buy ANY more offensive players (excepting of course VDV or someone of that sort)

    thanks

We want VdV as well, so hands off:). He has family in catalunya and is quite partial to Barca. But lord knows we can't match chelsea's money if they get involved. Is Mexes still available? Him and Rio would fantastic in back.

VdV Isnt going to barca this year, specially when you have his position well covered by ronaldinho. it seems barca are going to spend it all(if they actually have any money left to spend) on a striker. its more possible van der vaart ends at man utd. or chelsea. but i dont think he would choose chelsea. it doesnt go with his personality being a benchwarmer. obiously he is better than lampard, but lampard is to chelsea what raul is to madrid. so i can surely bet if fergie goes for rafael he wont let it slip up like ronaldinho.

Heh, you would think he would be available being in France and all, but you know how the United Board has been recently, but maybe they actually will splash some cash out this time.........

    thanks

    Mexes? Center back...
VDV? Split time with Giggs/Scholes. Eventually replace Giggs, as he is 29 or 30 (not sure exactlly)

    thanks

LW or CAM preferebly. beleive me this kids game is way ahead of giggs game right know. i would put him next season on giggs possition since he can play LW, and when scholes starts to show his age, i put VdV as CAM, since he would have more influence in the attack there. this is what rafael did last week check it out his awesome.

I don't think saviola would be a good buy for man utd, he's a small really light player and would be easily hacked and run over by the Epl defenses. You could say the same for aimar. Besides Saviola is about to get spanish citizenship, so the non -eu problem would be solved at Barca.

Saviola was formed in River Plate, they sold him to Barca.

    VdV

Well, we currently have Ronnie playing up top as a withdrawn striker/ A-Mid on the left. He has a ton of freedom to move around and ends up on the right quite often. We have luis Enrique playing a similar role on the right but with less freedom to move around. Since Luis most likely won't be with us next season, odds are Ronnie will slide into his role and we'll need someone to fill Ronaldinho's current role. VdV would be absolutely perfect.

About the money, look for Barca to be very aggressive this summer. I believe the confirmed figure is about 50m Euros this summer, or 90m over the next three. Like I said, not Chelsea money but certainly not bad. Yes, we want a striker, but it's entirely possible that we'll pick up Larsson on a free. His name has been mentioned by the club and he has already stated his intent to come to spain.

As for VdV personally, it's clear that he'd like to come to both of our clubs. He's already stated his love for Barca, and as I have mentioned, he does have family in Barcelona. He has also already stated that he would like to play for Man United before he retires, so if he goes to England, it will almost definitely be to your club. If he comes to spain, it will be to Barca.

That's what the word is, but nothing is for sure. That's why we(Barca fans) are hearing all these Saviola for sale rumors.

Saviola has more than held his own on the international scene and vs Italian clubs, which can been said offer more class in the way of tactical and physical prowess than your typical premiership team. I understand your stance though...

From what I've read, Barca has been pushing Saviola to apply for dual citizenship since last summer and Saviola has yet to apply for it. Barca also wants to renegotiate his contract and Saviola hasn't given in either.

Argentines do not play well in England..We already lost two talents to that league. I don't want to him there. I'll make sure Veron and Crespo gives him a call..

Firstly... give Crespo time... second, each person is different.. you cannot say that because a person is from such and such country or such and such league they wont play well in such and such system/league... it depends on every indvidual system... for crying out loud, at the beginning of the season Saviola could not even get a match at Barca, who is to say he wont fit into our plans...

These 2 things I know about Saviola...

    1. He is faster than every defender that ever played in the EPL

    2. He has excellent finishing skills....

I can infer from these facts that if used properly, ie... not as a target man, but as a withdrawn striker he would be devastating...

yeah i know it was backstabing bitch kenyon's fault, but i think fergie knows this is the only player with the same capabilities or more than ronaldihno. VdV and ronaldihno are the only ones that will get to Zidanes level or more, the others like rosicky, etc will be or are great, but they will be behind VdV and goofys level. That why i consider rafa a top priority. because i bet after euro cup he will be sold. and the only club i want him to be ia at united.
