Congrats to long suffering Sacramento fans. I began to worry that the enthusiasm of the fans would be sapped by the years of delay in their being properly noticed and added to MLS.

I just hope they enhance it rather than going the other way ala Nashville.

Could be worse. They might hire Austin's designer.

Has a coach been named, and if so, when does the "fire the coach" thread commence?

Frankly I think the existing crest is great, better than many in MLS today. Often attempts to change just for change sake yield a worse product due to trying too hard.

I get there is a degree of nuance to the rules for how they're changing leagues, etc, but for all intents and purposes MLS is inheriting the Republic. So I say take the Republic, badge and all.

Nothing wrong with the existing Republic crest.

The Nagle group tried submitting the initial MLS bid in January of '17 without the existing SRFC crest and colors, and the local fanbase went ballistic.

I don't think they'll try that stunt again just for shits and grins.

Oh, I don't know. SRFC has now joined MLS, and MLS does have a knack for doing dumb things.

In other words, the doom abides. :x3:

No reason to worry about Doom now... wait until April 2021 when SacFC is toast (which means you need to start the 2021 thread now).

If I need to start the 2021 Toast Thread now, doesn't that mean I do need to worry about doom now?

The one graphic design complaint I'd make is the tiny "Urbs Indomita" motto. That doesn't scale well in stitching or in small online icons. I think some of their merch already leaves it off. I could imagine some MLS nitpickers encouraging them to take it out of the main crest and perhaps make the bear a little bit bigger.

I'm not criticizing the motto, just its sizing in the crest.

    Crest is solid as is.

With Sacramento in MLS, this is another city that is as well a State capital joining the league. Which I believe makes nine now. Columbus, Denver, Boston, Atlanta, Austin, St. Paul, Nashville and Salt Lake City.

Well you won't really know until the thread data has been started. Then, when you claim some glimmer of hope, we can make fun of you.

Sacramento Republic FC's logo and colors may very well remain the same by 2022, but the uniform supplier will change since MLS is supplied by Adidas.

The old Capital Cup from the USL needs to be revived in MLS. (It died off in the USL when the league went to regional play and took away many of the games between state capital teams.)

Minnesota barely changed/tweaked their logo and for the most part left it as is. I assume Sacramento will do the same.
