Missed this a day or two ago ... Bonney Plumbing, major Sacramento contractor, facing state charges - Sac Bee
A Louisville story referencing how they're aiming for second highest season ticket sales in USL (about 1/3 of Republic season tickets this year). Galaxy II having 2000 this year suggests they are marketing the league more as their avg attendance last year was 597 ( http://dohertysoccer.com/2014-lower...tendances/2014-usl-pro-season-attendance-log/ ).... http://www.courier-journal.com/stor...e-city-near-top-of-usl-ticket-sales/24327769/
Here's why Galaxy II suddenly has an increase in ticket sales. The prices must be heavily sibsidized by the parent club....... From their website. "11 home regular season games included. $55 per full season ($5 per game). All children ages 12 and under will receive free admission to all Galaxy II home games."
So what exactly happened yesterday? Did anyone go? Not sure how much of a reality it was that Preki was fearing for our players' safety and how much it was Preki just getting pissed off and taking his ball home. As with most things I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle, but hopefully someone can shed more insight. All I heard was it seems like Graham Smith's son was a deuchebag and went after a UCD player. Save it for something that matters, buddy. Not a good look when you're here basically because of your dad's connection. I agree would have been stupid to risk injury with the season starting this week. Meaningless game to have a week before the season, more PR than for any real experience.
Defending champ Republic FC expects big test in larger USL - Sac Bee, 3/20/15 http://www.sacbee.com/sports/mls/article15414404.html Confirms that Alvarez, Vukovic and Stewart aren't ready. Does not mention Lopez's status for S2 game.
Assume this is reclassification of some or all existing local academies under Republic banner... http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2015/03/23/13/45/150323-develop-academy-new-clubs

Well intentioned, but not the argument that should be made. It should be Sac compared to Miami. Minnesota was always going to get a team, it was just the issue of which of the two competing groups (Vikings or MNU) MLS was going to choose. Everyone keeps acting like it was us vs Minnesota. That has never been the case.
I thought Seattle looked like idiots when they did that type of thing in their media when the Kings news broke, we look just as bad with this.
I think it was intended to be light-hearted and served the purpose of blogging something for the sake of having no better idea, but it still comes off as looking silly.
It's not even Sac versus Miami. Minny and Miami are both target locations for expansion. Minny due to geography; Miami due to contractual obligations with Beckham. Sacramento's position with regards to both have been as an alternate. We were never in competition per se. A lot of people fail to realize this. If it was a competition, we'd already be in. Those markets were designated long before Sac joined the game. Well get one if those spots in either M or M stumbles. Otherwise, we will be #25 in 2019
That's what I mean. Both of those are supposed to happen. Those places are where the league wants to be. Minnesota was always going to happen, that's why I say we were never competing with them. With Miami, the picture is much less clear, that's why Sacramento's destiny lies in whether or not Miami can get their stadium and plan together.
Source This is, of course, seriously good news. Hopefully we can get more than eight games up on 13/31 as the season progresses.
As a Davis resident, let me just say that some of my neighbors just need to get over themselves... Why Sacramento Republic lost my support
