Good article on Jeremy Hall over at ICS: From 0 to 100 Minutes: Jeremy Hall Instrumental to Republic's Playoff Hopes

[QUOTE"QuietType, post: 34643300, member: 150198"]As in, spending $2 million more than they brought in?? I sure hope much of that cost was associated with developing the MLS stadium...[/QUOTE] The article references starting the academy and expanding Bonney. $2M seems to add up fast.
It sounds more like the club spent $2 million more than it planned to spend, which is why it's being reported as busting the budget by $2 million rather than running a deficit of $2 million.
Danny Berrara, 1st team USL; Cam Iwassa, 2nd team. All USL 1st & 2nd Team Ex-Republic player Harrison Delbridge also made first team. I'm a little surprised Kiffe didn't make at least 2nd team.
I wonder if the Bee replaces him, if they replace him, with someone with experience covering soccer. It's been a great ride, but it's time for retirement. Thanks to all those who have followed me.@SacRepublicFC @UCDavisAggies @hornetsports— Bill Paterson (@SacBee_BillP) January 7, 2017
I used to think so, too. But for anyone with ANY interest in soccer, it would be almost impossible to be that uninformed and ignorant. So, I am left to conclude that Andy's articles are satire, and that, in his genius, he is aiming for "comedy gold." If that is not true, now that Bill P retired, I will breaking out the good scotch when I read the Bee's soccer coverage. it's the only way to make it to the end of the article..... Couldn't decide where to post this, so here it is. SRFC @ OKC on 4/11 will be the ESPN3 USL Game of the Week. 5:30 PT.
The team sent out the following information regarding game broadcasts: This Saturday's away match to be broadcast on CW31 Republic FC announced today that CW31 will once again be the broadcast partner of the club. Select home matches will be broadcast on CW31 throughout the season similar to last year, but this season CW31 and Republic FC will also broadcast select away matches. The first match to be broadcast on CW 31 this season will be this Saturday's match between Republic FC and Swope Park Rangers. Kickoff is 5 p.m. The match will be called by Republic FC commentators Rob McAllister and Kevin Goldthwaite for the broadcast. There will still be a YouTube stream available for fans, but the stream will not feature Republic FC's commentators. The full season TV and radio broadcast schedule will be released shortly. I don't know if this means McAllister and Goldthwaite will be at the game or calling it as they watch from a local studio (as I believe CSN Bay Area has done in the past with SJE).
I suspect the away game broadcasts became possible because of all the broadcast changes that the USL implemented this year. Just a guess, but I think a probable one.
One of the better SRFC articles that I've seen in the Bee... New coach, new GM, new roster. How will Republic FC emerge from massive upheaval? “Simon has us playing however we want to play,” said Kneeshaw...“He’s set out ways to get us to the final third, and then in the final third you go and do whatever you want to do. Once in the final third, if you want to express yourself by taking someone on, or looking for little passes, (Elliott) is not going to discriminate or hit on anything, so from that sense we are freer in our movement and in our ball movements. I’m really excited.” I'm not convinced a little more structure wouldn't be a good thing, but we have nowhere to go but up.
