Republic FC still seeks impact scorer - SacBee, 6/8/16 Bill Paterson "Buckle is counting on Stewart and San Jose loan player Adam Jahn to get on track. Stewart has scored just twice, once in league play. While the 6-foot-3 Jahn has looked dangerous at times up top, he has yet to score this season in five appearances and 207 minutes with Sacramento. Reserve forward Mackenzie Pridham has two non-USL goals." Does this mean we'll see more of Jahn? Regarding JJ: "Buckle acknowledged Sacramento has missed the defensive presence of midfielder JJ Koval, who has sat out the last two league matches because of a sports hernia. His playing status remains uncertain. 'It’s a Catch-22,' Buckle said. 'If you rest him, he loses his sharpness in training. But if you train him too hard, then he’s probably not right for the game. We’re trying to find that balance. ... I think it’s important that our center halves have a defensive player in there, so I can’t wait to get JJ back into the team. But it’s got to be right.'”
It's not so much the guys up top that are the problem as it is the guys in the midfield that need to be creating for them.
Republic FC defenders Kiffe, Klimenta make impact on offense - SacBee 6/18/16 When Paul Buckle took over as Republic FC coach last July, he noticed Sacramento’s inefficiency on its wide attacks. Buckle said one reason was the lack of touch on putting balls into the box as well as the failure of forwards to get into the box consistently. “I said that if we are going to have James and Emrah up high, we need to score from crosses,” Buckle said. “The way to do that is, one, through the delivery into the area, and, two, from the runs into the area. Otherwise, it’s no good for them to be up there. We’re getting that now because we’ve worked tirelessly on it. We’re a lot more dangerous from wide areas now.”
Don't bother reading Andy Furillo's article in today's Bee. Another opinion piece that can't help but mention the wisdom of his previous Mexican League and relegation "ideas." I swear I put more thought into choosing my breakfast than he does researching Sac Republic and MLS. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
I know, when he wrote, "some of us around here have been saying," I was thinking "some of you around there are idiots."
If you guys haven't written to this check to express displeasure get highly suggest you do. Specifically why he is in idiot and why he should not be writing about soccer for covering the republic in any way. I did it's the only wayto get him off that b to get him off the beat.

Republic FC makes adjustments to stay in USL West contention - Bill Paterson, Sac Bee 8/4/16 On playing a 4-5-1 and lacking depth up top with Jahn's departure.
From the Bee on Wednesday LaGrassa makes splash in first start Also notes that Buckle is expected back today; Cole had passport issues (hopefully not involving a Rio De Janeiro restroom) and is expected to begin training today, as well.
So, maybe, MAYBE a not too bad article from Furillo. Primarily because he doesn't pursue any wild-eyed premise beyond, "things are going OK." http://www.sacbee.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/andy-furillo/article97061462.html
Not a bad article by Andy. Being an old guy, I don't always "get" some of Andy's references, but It does provide insight into other things. For example: Warren's letter to STH, coupled with his comments to Andy remind me of the "limited expectations" speech that Governor Brown gave......in 1975. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It wasn't mentioned in the print article, but the accompanying video has Buckle saying that Cole's first full day of training will be today and that hopefully he'll prove ready for selection for Saturday. I can't imagine him starting his first game but think he would be a great 2nd half sub regardless of the score, considering his size.
I'm not familiar with the Sports Glutton, but here you go... Buckle Fuels Late Season Republic FC Surge https://t.co/xTSI3o4Ogb @eabjork @eddieralph @EvanReam @josh_beeman @GeorgeMShiel @SacBee_BillP— William Hodges (@william_hodges) August 30, 2016 The author seems to only cover the Republic.
A good feature on Jeremy Hall - by Bill Paterson in the Sac Bee, 9/7/16. Darn baseball registration deadline!
