Don't know anything about Scratching the Pitch, but here you go... Hearing that release of #USL schedule has been pushed back from end of Jan. Assuming Rochester issues in play here.— Scratching the Pitch (@PitchScratching) January 13, 2016
Pre-season tickets went on sale today for STH. Nine minute wait on ticketmaster, and I was offered sideline, row 2 tickets for $44 each (Colorado game). Wow. Glad I have ST
Spent 30 minutes refreshing Ticketmaster. Was never offered any tickets for Quakes games, even using "best available" option. I'm predicting the Republic will be OK ticket sales-wise for this season
Buckle will own it. If we're in the bottom half of the table midway through the season his job had better not be safe.
What kinda crap is that? He picked up the team outside the play offs and got us in with a badly demoralized team. Do you think you're chelski? Do you think we have a divine rite to win something? Sacking the guy before a ball is even kicked? Lets give him a chance. I can't wait for April 2 - gonna be a great season ahead
Huh? I said if we're in the bottom half halfway through the season then he's going to be in the hot seat. I'm not advocating getting rid of him right now.
The first Craigslist resale for the Colorado game is up on Craigslist. $80 for a seat in section 111. That's a $40 seat regular priced, right? Edit: Sec 111, not 113. Whichever is in the NE corner on the sideline.
2016 schedule released http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/schedule/ First glance highlights Start season on the road versus Sounders 2 on March 25 First home game versus Arizona on April 2 Away game in Reno at Aces Ballpark (Future home of USL Reno team) vesus SLC Monarchs on June 11. Cool little trial run for Reno, and a nice away trip for SRFC. I plan on making that one.
So I quickly totaled up the number of matches we’re playing against different teams in our conference, and looks like the number of times we play other teams is heavily weighed on proximity. It’s almost like divisional rivals we play multiple times, while other teams we play only once or twice. This is quick so correct me if I’m wrong: 4 Matches LA 2 Orange County Blues 3 matches Sounders 2 Whitecaps 2 Real Monarchs 2 matches Timbers 2 Arizona Saint Louis Rio Grande Valley 1 match Oklahoma City Tulsa San Antonio Colorado Springs Good for all teams I suppose. I’d imagine the same is the case in reverse for teams like OKC and Tulsa playing eachother multiple times and us only once. I love the Reno game, I’m definitely going to that! Should be fun!
I'm surprised they're not playing a (mostly) balanced schedule, but someone did post somewhere that the league is trying to keep travel costs down. I know at this level of soccer measuring strength of schedule based on last year's results may be inaccurate, but this does set up the very real possibility of two clubs having dramatically different difficulties-of-schedule.
Yes, it's hard already with all of the teams split into two conferences and there is no real comparison until the championship game, but now within each conference it's more split as well. This does give an advantage to a stronger team that happens to be surrounded by weaker teams. Like if OKC is really strong this year while Tulsa, SA, RGV are weak, then they can pad their record by playing them so many times. Not that that will happen, it's just the downside of having an unbalanced schedule like this. EDIT - I just noticed I left out Swope Park Rangers who we play one time this year. But I can't edit my original post.
The only change I would have preferred would be to trade one of the Vancouver matches for another one with Portland.
i think you have actually hit upon a major weakness of an unbalanced schedule. However, there are methods to mitigate that. For example, divide the conference into smaller divisions, like Northwest, Southwest, and Midwest. Then, each division's top team advances to playoffs, along with the next highest overall points team regardless of division. Guarantees that tough divisions aren't shafted.
How about we just play oc and galaxy 8 times each... This is getting ridiculous. Why be in it if you can't afford an away fame? Everybody home and away once and forget this crap - its bs
Possibly a new attacking mid-fielder/striker on the way: Cheltenham Town Striker Harry Williams 21 years old, signed his first professional contract 7/1/14. Played for Buckle at Cheltenham Town, currently in League 2. 14 appearances, no goals. Was told earlier this month he had no future with the club. Has scored a ton of goals for English 6th, 7th and 8th tier clubs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Williams_(footballer,_born_1996)
ICYMI: Republic FC kicked off their 2016 preseason training camp on Monday. Read: https://t.co/QH5nE9G66x pic.twitter.com/br6RkI0cj9— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) February 2, 2016
Republic FC Incorporating Technology in Preseason "As with a number of teams nowadays, Sacramento Republic FC is taking an analytical approach to the matter. As Paul Buckle’s squad trains in Mexico this week, all of the players are using Playertek GPS devices to allow the staff, led by Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Rayfield, to monitor player movement in each session. “These GPS devices monitor how much they run, how explosive their movements are, and then we can tailor the program to each player... So if they aren’t working hard enough we know to push them harder, or if they’re working too hard and we need to back off. This GPS system allows us to monitor their workload.” Once again, the club's professionalism shows.
